It is possible he might, but unlikely. You may often see him lift his tail and shake his behind against a counter, your leg and such. My male cat does this often, but there's never any actual spray. I've only heard a story of one cat that would actually spray after being neutered.

Males are neutered
Females are spayed

For animal products, visit Dr. Foster's on the web. They have all kinds of items for pet health, getting rid of odors, hairballs and tons of other useful items

PS...after you get him home...expect him to hide for a few days and be a bit shy. Somehow they seem to sense they've lost their "manhood". My cat Brodrick stayed behind the couch for days after his procedure.

The scent your male cat sprays is cat pee. He is still capable of spraying after being neutered but shouldn't have the urge as much.

Be sure to really, really clean any areas he has sprayed in the past before he comes home from the vet. If he can't smell where he sprayed before and if there are no other cats in your household, he should stop spraying.

Congratulations on being responsible and having him neutered!

How old is he? If he hasn't started spraying yet, then he will not do it once he gets neutered. If he already has the habit of spraying and he is over 1 year old, he may keep the habit, but since you have only heard of the smell I presume this is not the case. Just make sure you feed him food for neutered males after the surgery, or special food to maintain urinary health and normal weight.

Neutering does not guarantee that a male cat will stop spraying. When he sprays he's marking his territory so if he feels the need to continue to do that, he will. And the smell is very strong.

Spraying does not come from the testicles, it comes from the penis.

If he is older than 6 months, he is considered mature and will still be able to spray after neutering(males are neutered, females are spayed.) He just won't be able to reproduce.

Yes he can. If u get him fixed before he ever sprays u have great chance he never will. If u wait until he does u may b scr ewed. It does smell horrible. Good Luck!

No, that's part of the operation. Spraying comes from the cats testicles, if you get him neutered it won't happen
