its easy to be rude when not face to face, obviously. 99% of the people on here are shy and quite. but dont take it to heart, your not supposed to, if it bothers u that much dont come on here because its not going to end soon. fire back a couple of comments at them if you have to, but dont take it personally, because its not personal, its online.

They are lonely frustrated people who obviously do not have any like minded friends to sit around and bash others with, so they come here. I have posted somewhat rude answers to racist or other bothersome remarks. I am trying to ignore them now, most of the time. If you think you got a rude response on a history question, try a spiritual question after identifying yourself as a Christian! I hope you did get your answer. Have a star for an attempt to show we are not all creeps.

Well, people can be rude in general, offline or on.
With the degree of anonymity people have online, it's easy to 'get away with' being rude.
Alternatively, people come to a given website in all types of moods from all types of backgrounds. Perceived rudeness may not be actual rudeness (if that's possible), and everyone doesn't really mean what they type.
May God bless you.

I agree with Anthony C, the anonymity of the internet is the perfect mask for introverts.
I've also noticed that using reverse psychology works, because I asked a question and expected a lot of negative feedback, but got very little.

LMAO, that dude's got issues. It's probably because he legitimately thinks that you're not doing enough work for yourself, nothing rude about that, he's just insane.
The fact of the matter is this- if you've got a husband, then you're obviously old enough to be able to research eighth grade homework for yourself. I'm fourteen and I always manage to do assignments without the use of this site (mainly because I've realised that this place is useless for answering my legitimate questions).

They are called "Internet Bullies"---& it's because they DON'T know you, that they feel they have the 'open door' to be rude. Of course they wouldn't speak to you that way to your face--they are cowards.
You are right,,,it is a POWER thing with them...they can't handle interaction in the world...because they are "social misfits"...so they come to the computer to try to BEAT UP someone who has 'opened' their door with a question. It would be better if you don't even respond to them---because that gives them the open door to come back to you in more rudeness, giving them a greater sence of power. Just slam the door on them by not answering them. I hope this is a good answer.

Not to excuse the behavior, but when people are on the internet, they can maintain complete anonymity.
They can use the computer as something to hide behind, so to speak. Some people therefore say/do things that they normally wouldn't say/do because they're completely anonymous online.

I don't get it either. I usually try to answer a question as if I'm seated right next to them. These other people must feel "empowered" by being invisible. That would be my guess. You don't have to respond, and in most cases, I don't. Just try to remember the answers that help and that are honest.

From your questions, it sounds as though YA! is the FIRST place you went to, instead of going to a library or googling the subject on the internet.
That would be why you have so many snarky answers.

You see some people use this as a vent to express their anger. People who would normally never be rude are so because no one knows who they are.
