I live in Maine and I love winter. You just leave a little extra time to get the car shovelled out. Shovelling is great exercise. You also have to learn to drive on snow, how to stop sooner so you won't slide, et cetera. It's not that much trouble to have very warm clothes. You just have to remember on the coldest days, to keep everything covered, and you'll find you are quite toasty in there. And always bring pets in so they won't get frostbite.

I invite you to come and take a vacation in New England in the winter. Everyone should experience a horse-drawn sleigh ride once in their lives, or go out walking after a snowfall where there is complete silence and white diamonds everywhere..

I moved to kentucky a year and half ago from California. The winter can be difficult at times especially when you're not used to it. If you don't have a garage then there is the scrapping off snow issue....don't have to worry about mowing the lawn during winter cause there isn't any. They are pretty good at keeping the freeways clear of snow but some small streets don't have snow plows clearing them and it could get a little slippery. As for the driveways some people would salt them before the snow hits to help melt it away. It's not so hard to take care of your home during winter it's just more how a person can handle being out in the cold. They do have snow alerts where if it was a level 3 then that means you can't drive on the road except for emergencies only. Level 4 you don't drive at all, if you need to go to the emergency room then you call 911.

I myself prefer to live where the seasons change. Then I never get bored and I always have something to look forward to. When it is hot in the summer, I think of how it feels to go out in the cold and have the snow crunch under my feet. And, when I have gotten quite sick of dealing with weeds in my garden, the winter comes and I can shovel snow instead of weed. I love the fall and the spring. There is something wonderful about watching the earth get ready for winter and watching it awake again after a long winter.

I lived in Southern CA for about 15 years and HI for 3. When my hubby retired from the Marines, we moved back home to NH and just love it...

Well I live in Wisconsin and it certainly can be challenging, but you don't have any idea how refreshing a brisk morning can feel. The snow is beautiful and cleansing. Most states that have snowy winters have all the proper snow removal equipment and take care of the roads promptly. Residents have snow blowers or shovels and it is great excercise removing the snow from driveways and sidewalks. When it gets bitter out (20-40 below) it isn't so nice, but those spells rarely last very long. So all in all it isn't bad at all.

Many things have to be readied for cold weather. Not only clothing but water lines have to be buried below the frost line as well. For me out door temp's work like this. Once it made it to the 30's-40's a light unlined jacket unless active then one can be in a t-shirt. Teen's and 20's a lined jacket unless active then light jacket or t-shirt. 0 and below is cold no matter how one looks at it. it will require long handles and layering of clothing or insulated coveralls. and if your just sitting around outside in the cold you'll need even more to stay warm. As with extreme Heat the colder the more likely a break down with your vehicle. Batteries go bad. Brakes freeze tight. If you don't have enough antifreeze motors freeze. Diesel jells when it gets around 0 and so forth.

If your lucky enough to live in CA Stay unless you wish for lower taxes, More Value for the buck in the Housing market, less crime, Lower cost of living and so on... then move to fly over country where hollywood types never stop...

I live in Michigan, and sometimes we have really big snows, and quite a few winters, ice, sleet, freezing rain!!! The roads would be soooooo bad, that you could cause an accident or be in one!!
Shoveling snow can be a pain!! Boots, gloves, hats, you name it!!!! Make sure you have antifreeze 24/7 for your car!! Fear of frostbite can be a realllllllll doozy!!!
I would rather live in Hawaii if I could!!! I wouldn't mind the stellar weather at all!!! I would be glad to give my winter woolies away!!

I absolutely adore the change of seasons. I have no problem with cold or snow. You just dress for it. A nice walk when it's brisk out feels great. When it snows the city is so pretty. I feel sorry for people who get the same weather day in and day out, must be real boring.
