since communism disallows all religion, would this be your ideal government? If not, what is your preference?

In fact, during the communist rule in the former USSR, religion was illegal and the governement proclaimed that God did not exist. Publicly stating otherwise could result in death.

Just to comment on a few previous answers, yes, I have read extensively about Communism and what an "ideal communism" government would be like, but communism is never ideal. I lived in the former USSR and experienced first-hand what it is like to live under communist rule. So my statements about communism come purely from experience combined with factual knowledge.
I don't, however, know anything about athiesm, so I was wondering if athiesm has anything to do with politics- on an individual preference...

I did not mean to offend anyone with my question. I was not making a statement, I was simply asking a question.

No, this question frustrates me. Being an Atheist is about having the FREEDOM to live your life as you see fit. Why would an Atheist substitute one control for another?

What a silly question, how is atheism connected at all with politics? I realize that religious rejects think that politics and your religion must be one in the same. That is because without your religion, you can not think on your own, nor would you have the ability to distinguish right from wrong. However, atheists can think for themselves and can figure out right from wrong.
Just FYI in the current communist country of China, they are allowed to practice their religions. You really need to get out more. The former Soviet Union was not the only communist country on the planet. In addition, religion follows more along the lines of communism, since they both tell you how you MUST think and how you MUST act and if you do not, there are horrible punishments.

It doesn't disallow religion. It is, if done correctly, the best form of government.
If you do a blind study of governments, it will always be chosen as the best one. Everyone is treated equally, everyone puts in the same amount...and while it takes away from the unique flair, it provides everyone with equal opportunity and so on.
So, it would crush Hollywood richness and stop all poverty.
However, there is no group of people that can pull off communism without turning greedy or corrupt.

No, I'm not a fan of communism. In principle, I have nothing against communism but in practice communism will never work. I like our US government despite it allows for the possibility that an idiot such as Bush will get elected from time to time. Religions do not belong in public schools or government, but I do not believe people should be persecuted by their government for having religious beliefs.

Atheists are far too diverse in their attitudes towards all but the god issue. I am sure there are some communists and plenty who would be considered right wing. I lean slightly right of field, but only on certain issues.
Any extreme, which communism is, is a bad thing.

Lay off the Rush Limbaugh will you? And then ask a decent question for decent people. Have you ever read anything about communism? Marx? The concept of utopia? Probably not. At any rate, I'm not atheist but I am a Buddhist and for some reason that question just p***ed me off. Think for YOURSELF!
(Progressive Independent Liberal......or you could call me a communist)

I'd like a benevolent monarch. King or Queen that looks out for his/her people, make sure everyone's in line, doing well, leading good lives, and listens to the public. It's an easier system than all these checks and balances. The only problem is that a benevolent monarchy usually lasts as long as the ruler, and the successor brings about a reign of terror.

More a liberal democrat.
I'd be tempted by Anarcho-syndicalism, but as with all systems it has problems.
And you can hardly get more communist (or at least communal) than the Christians in Acts 4:32-37

No. I think that communism in its pure form is impractical on a large scale.
To quote Sir Winston Churchill: "... Democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."

Communism is great in THEORY. Human nature will NEVER allows it to work in practice so it's a definite non-starter. And I don't see how forcing a nation to disavow religion has ever had a good outcome.
