Atheists like you have no problem believing that all the elements have always existed. Why is it such a leap to understand the idea that a creative force in the universe has always been there? In His revelation to man that is just what He says. Even the name He refers to Himself as means that He is.. How is it that you also can imagine the infinite expanse of space but can't comprehend of a power so intense that time and space are bent by it's will? I am not telling you that you must believe or even except the idea as plausible. Just hold room in your mind that you don't know everything, and that your senses can't detect everything that may be. I know you may ask me for that same thing. I thank you for thinking that my faith is so strong that I would never doubt but that isn't so. So in a manor of speaking I do consider you ideas from time to time. I am thankful to God for forgiving me of my unbelief at those time and holding me close to Him teaching be by His word, logic and science, YES SCIENCE TOO. That He is indeed there and has done all he said and will do all he promised.. Jim

The question is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that God came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, "What does blue smell like?" Blue is not in the category of things that have odor, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, God is not in the category of things that are created, or come into existence, or are caused. God is uncaused and uncreated - He simply exists.
How do we know this? Well, we know that from nothing, nothing comes. So if there was ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence then nothing would have ever come to exist. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been existing. That ever-existing thing is what we call God.

To one who examines the evidence, there can be no doubt that God exists. Every building has a builder. Everything made has a maker. The fact of the existence of the Creator is axiomatic (self-evident). That’s why the Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’" (Psalm 14:1). The professing atheist denies the common sense given to him by God, and defends his belief by thinking that the question "Who made God?" can’t be answered. This, he thinks, gives him license to deny the existence of God.
The question of who made God can be answered by simply looking at space and asking, "Does space have an end?" Obviously, it doesn’t. If there is a brick wall with "The End" written on it, the question arises, "What is behind the brick wall?" Strain the mind though it may, we have to believe (have faith) that space has no beginning and no end. The same applies with God. He has no beginning and no end. He is eternal.
The Bible also informs us that time is a dimension that God created, into which man was subjected. It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist. That will be called "eternity." God Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created (2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2). He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time. God spoke history before it came into being. He can move through time as a man flips through a history book.
Because we live in the dimension of time, logic and reason demand that everything must have a beginning and an end. We can understand the concept of God’s eternal nature the same way we understand the concept of space having no beginning and end—by faith. We simply have to believe they are so, even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrums.

I am an atheist but theology and philosophy are fascinating to me. It involves lots of metaphysics, so i cannot really give you the answer so you will quite understand it. Easy sum up: god is the uncreated creator, who is the past, present and future at the same time. However, god doesn't know the exact future; he only knows the different outcomes of what humans choose to do with their free will. God is the absolute infinite, and cannot be comprehended or contained in a finite human mind. The mind is just a tiny piece of god's essence, that will give you some answers if you search within the human soul. However, whether it's the human definition or other, i don't know. I still believe that god exists only inside the mind.

Unlike the universe, which according to modern science had a beginning, God is infinite and eternal. Thus, as an infinite eternal being, God has always been, and will always be. I think that to suppose that because the Universe had a cause, that the cause of the universe must have had a cause simply leads to a logical dead end. An infinite regression of finite causes does not answer the question of source; it merely makes the effects more numerous.

Science admits that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only be transformed.
Theists acknowledge that uncreated, undestroyable energy as God. God is the source of all energy. In the Bhagavad-Gita, God says, "Of energy, I am the energetic". This tells us that even the scientific understanding of energy as indistructible and uncreated confirms the existence of God. Science can call it energy.
I hear so many atheists claim that one cannot prove a negative, and therefore it is not logical or reasonable to believe in God, because it is unscientific to use an unproveable theory as evidence to explain other phenomena.
Yet, science DOES use an unproveable theory to explain phenomena. No, not evolution. The integer (-1). If it is impossible to prove a negative, and therefore unscientific to use a negative to explain positive phenomena, then the field of quantum physics does not exist, nor does any of the data obtained from this field have any integrity whatsoever. It is impossible to prove "negative one", yet fields of advanced mathematics, physics, and astronomy rely on it.

God by definition is an entity that always existed. And, something that has always existed has no need to be created.
God coming from nothing should not be a quandary for a person who already accepts the possibility of no God. Because, in either case essentially you will have something coming from nothing.
On the other hand, the laws of thermodynamics indicate that things tend to go from order to disorder (ie: more information >>> less information), so to suggest that evolution defied all of that to create complexity from disorder (less information >>> more information) defies natural LAW (1st & 2nd LoTD is not theory). So, other than faith in a direct contradiction of known scientific law, why would I believe a theory that defies natural law?
God by his very definition doesn't need to be created, but all we know about this universe suggests that everything is caused by something. So, what caused the universe?

Deuteronomy 4:35: "You—you have been shown, so as to know that Jehovah is the [true] God; there is no other besides him."
2 Samuel 22:32: "For who is a God besides Jehovah, And who is a rock besides our God?"
1 Kings 8:60: "to the end that all the peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah is the [true] God. There is no other."
Isaiah 43:10-12: “YOU are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.”
Isaiah 44:6: "This is what Jehovah has said, the King of Israel and the Repurchaser of him, Jehovah of armies, ‘I am the first and I am the last, and besides me there is no God."
Isaiah 45:5: "I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. With the exception of me there is no God. I shall closely gird you, although you have not known me."
Revelation 22:13: "I am the Al′pha and the O•me′ga, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
Just in case you thought that the Bible is old-fashioned or that Jehovah God is lying...
2Timothy 3:16, 17: "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."
Numbers 23:19: "God is not a man that he should tell lies, Neither a son of mankind that he should feel regret. Has he himself said it and will he not do it, And has he spoken and will he not carry it out?"
Deuteronomy 32:4: "The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; Righteous and upright is he."
Hebrews 6:18: "it is impossible for God to lie."
So here we have it. There was no God before Jehovah neither will there be one after him. Jehovah God has not beginning nor will he have an end. He will be here until time indefinite. Isn't that amazing?

Simply put. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. God is not, nor ever was, a living being. They are a part of everything from one end of the universe to the other (if it even ends) and everything in between. That's my opinion anyway.
