You can take steps as an individual by changing your way of living and using resources more sparingly. But, you also need to lean on your politicians to let them know that you're concerned and demand action! Join Care2Connect.com and there are numerous petitions you can sign to be heard. There's tons of postings on here in regards to how to conserve energy; or do a goole search. Educate yourself, and then educate others. We can't wait for 'someone else' to do something! Rather, we need to get busy ourselves on an individual basis.

We should do something--you got that right.
Here's how the situation stands right now. The current level of global warming (factoring in the inevitable increases short therm due to te fact we CAN'T shift our energy production technology overnight) is going to be disruptive. We will see some coastal flooding by mid-century--but that won't be a direct threat; it will be slow (a period of years) so everyone will have time to move or build levees.
The bbiggest problem is liely to be drops in agricultural production due to climate changes. And that could cost lives if nations don't get together to cooridinate production and distribuion of food supplies to affected regions.
But that's not going tokill everybody. If we handle it right, it needn't kill anyone. But its going to be expensive.
That's if we get on the stick and shift to alternative energy production and high-efficiency energy use. The good news--despite the scare tactics of special interests like the oil companies, this isn't going to hurt the economy. New technologies will create new industries and new jobs (=economic growth) and some of these, combined with things like energy conservation strategies (like fuel-efficient cars) will reduce energy costs for individuals in the long run.
That's the good news. The bad news: if we don't act--and soon--to begin changing how we produce and use energy, we will most certainly destroy ourselves--or at least civilization as we know it. Keep up the current and increasing abuse of the environment long enough, and the projected 5-8 foot rise in sea levels will double or triple. That wipes out every coastal ecology--and seaside human infrastructure--on earth. Climate changes will become major. An example--read up on the "Dust Bowl" of the 1930s (also a result of human overuse of the environment)--and then multiply it all over the world--and lasting for decades.
And there's more negative consequences of inaction. Here's one possibility (NOTE--I said possibility, not certainty): ironically, the global warming could start a new "ice age" in the northern US and Europe. That's becasue, as sea levels rise, one effect may be to change the course of the Gulf Stream current that keeps the climate relatively warm in those regions. The resulting drop in temperature would trigger extremely harsh winters, start the formation of new glaciers, etc. So we could end up with this critical area of the world in a small ice age, even though the average global temperature has gone up.
We are NOT all "doomed." That's just an exaggeration--plain and simple. But we could destroy our current civilization if we persist in doing nothing.

No Global warming is a scam where people like Gore makes a lot of money. Their intent is to increase the cost of living like gasoline at $3.00 per gal . They think they may collapse our economy about $5.00 per gal. The CO2 is taken care of be the plants and photosynthesis. Then methane is another green house gas that is causing global warming, Well there is a few things that makes me believe that the entire thing is just a lie. They have published lots of data on the amount of methane released. There is a problem, methane is very light so it may go over 50 miles up ,so how did they measure it. The fact is they didn't or they would of known that methane is explosive and when it gets that high in the atmosphere it will oxidize and turn into CO2 , If the green house gas is not where it is supposed to be ,something is wrong and there is no global warming.

Of course we should take action. Global warming isn't really going to kill us-it's going to mess up our crops and weather, which will then mess up the money we get from crops and weather (to fly airplanes and sail ships, we have know how the weather is acting). When the money gets messed up, our whole system has difficulties fixing itself. Prices of things will change a lot and people might lose their jobs. The loss of crops could starve some people while the change in weather would mean more storms like Katrina. Technically people could die from global warming, but not directly.

No, we're not going to die from global warming. At least not most of us.
We'll start to feel some significant consequences of global warming such as widespread water shortages around 2030. Assuming we don't take significant action to slow it, we will feel more effects by 2050, possibly including a 23 foot sea level rise due to the Greenland Ice Sheet melting. By 2100 the impacts will be very severe.
Yes, we should do what we can to slow global warming. Many of us are trying, but it's mostly up to the politicians.

i think of it fairly is particularly sparkling that a reasonable quantity of warming which seems probably, will finally end up as a internet valuable. some extra human beings will die of warmth stroke yet many extra would be saved from demise from chilly appropriate motives. flora might desire to many times advance because of the fact the extra beneficial heat temperature will advance growing to be seasons and the extra beneficial CO2 will additionally help flora very equivalent to a fertilizer and could shrink the quantity of water that a plant desires. some animals would be harm and others would be helped.

We could die if global warming progresses. Scientists say we have about 100 years to act. But if we don't act now the deadline might be shortened to 50 years in my analysis.

You have a greater chance dying from putting your life in the hands of these GW alarmists than you do from climate change.
