since i was a kid, i loved snakes, lizards, frogs, that sort of thing.

i currently have a free roaming 5' long iguana named Taco, my albino rat named Vermon, my 3 kids each have their own rats (Gary, Digs & KitKat), and we have 3 cats (Rusty, Thunder & Shyla) i would have snakes if my hubby wasn't so afraid of them. i used to run a reptile rescue in my house and at one time had 13 iguanas.

i'm pagan and would rather have a big lizard than a dog.

i know christians often associate snakes with evil, so are they more likely to stick with cute fluffy things?

so, what's your religion and what type of pet(s) do you have/want?

(sorry that i rambled lol)

i'll gladly reply to a happy light-hearted religious question. : )

i consider myself a gnostic christian, if i have to put a name on it. but i'm pretty open to most considerations of faith. i don't believe there is only one right religion, i suppose you could say, but that there are many paths of goodness.

and so i have two springer spaniels (bird hunters) and a really old black cat who's pretty much on hospice.

i have always wanted to have ferrets. and i love snakes but i was never able to have one because of hospice cat.

now as far fluffy and furry go...i have to continue by saying that my cat is no ordinary cat. i have seen my cat stare down a bare for 32 minutes. he was a mighty outdoor cat in his younger day, gone for weeks on end but everytime he would bring back a shrew and leave on my doorstep. so i am loved. : )

I'm a Christian. I don't think snakes are evil, but I'm quite afraid of them. Has nothing to do with my religion, I'm afraid of bridges too and as far as I know there's no demonic symbolism there.

I do love animals however. Currently I have two dogs, one is a Pitbull (he's not really mine I'm just babysitting him until his owner gets a house instead of an apartment in his new city) and the other is a Doberman/Terrier/Lab mix. If there's any such thing as the devil indwelling in a dog, she would be the best evidence. But I love her all the same.

I also have a cat and he's pretty cool.

When I was growing up I lived on a farm, so we had a variety of cows, pigs, sheep, bunnies, and a few ducks.

As for pets I'd like to have, I love those huge giant rabbits that come from Canada. Have you seen one? They're bigger than dogs! I'd also love to have a pig. One of my life plans is to get a huge pot bellied pig and go around Europe hunting for expensive rare truffles. Yeah, I'm a dork.

I also really want one of those Egyptian hairless cats and a pug dog. They're both so ridiculous-looking that you can't help but laugh when you see one, and I think owning one would improve my general morale.

Sorry I rambled, too. :)

Actually, I am a Christian, and I don't equate snakes with evil. In the Bible, Satan took on the shape of a serpent, the serpent wasn't the evil one. Sure, it also says that God cursed the serpent to crawl on it's belly. But then, there are so many more passages in which God curses man. Snakes *or animals of any kind* never sit down and start to think up ways to hurt someone else. They don't lie, cheat, steal or do anything that wasn't programed into them by God Himself. So to say that any animal is evil is rediculous.
I just have a cat now, but for pets I have had: dogs, snakes, lizards, halloween crabs, a praying mantis, a goat with one horn, a few roosters, a turkey, a goose, a slightly below-average intelligence sheep named Mona, a chicken that i found walking around in a sweater someone had put on her, a raccoon, two squirrels and a ferret.

My German shepherds are Lutherans. The reason I know this is because I once caught Sam starting to lift his leg on a concrete statue of the Sacred Heart out in the yard. And Jamie, the little female shepherd, could probably eat her own body weight in coffee, lefse, lutefisk, and Jell-O if we'd let her. Granted, that's only speculation on my part about the lutefisk. The stuff smells bad enough going in, and there's no way I'm sticking around to find out what it smells like after a trip through a German shepherd's innards. Sweet dreams, Uncle Wayne!

I'm a Christian, and I love all animals. We have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a fresh-water fish tank. I also used to have a hedgehog (cute but not furry!); but she died a few years ago. I'd like to get a couple tortoises, too. Your iguana sounds cool! :D

I don't associate snakes or any other animals with evil. I think they're kind of cool, but I don't like having to feed them the "cute, furry animals" like bunnies. :( Same with most other reptiles. If I could just toss 'em a raw steak or something like that, then I'd be ok with any reptiles.

Good question.

The only pet we have is a hairless mammal. She just started walking so nothing in the house is safe.

But, my sweetie announced the other day that she wants a snake. Which I think is pretty cool.

I'd like to have another dog but now life is way too busy and it would not be fair to the poor pooch. Maybe in a couple years or so when our little girl starts pre-school. I'd like to get another pharaoh hound.

I'm an atheist following Satanic philosophy.

I was raised as a Lutheran, but I'm an atheist now. I've had dogs, snakes, lizards and a ferret. At the moment I have 4 cats.

religion is man made. a life style of some mans interpretation of stuff. like the miss translation of the bible as we know it. It (I believe) is used to control people to do what others want. Snakes are and have been the symbol of transformation and healing for eons. It was the Roman church (which I was raised in ) that made it into an evil thing.
Wars are fought in the name of religion and for peoples beliefs that we all have to believe what they believe. scary.

I have only three four legged companions at this time, and they are traditional. cats and dogs. sound like you are on the right track protecting and caring for ALL creatures of the Great Spirit.
go girl.

I don't see what pets have to do with religion. I'm Christian, but I don't have any pets because my landlord doesn't allow it. I grew up having a dog. I'd like someday to have a dog, a Guinea pig, and maybe some lizards. I like a lot of different animals. I find snakes beautiful, but I wouldn't ever have one as a pet because they creep me out. When I was younger, I was outside with bare feet and a wild garter snake crawled onto my feet and I couldn't get it off. I was jumping around freaking out, and it was jumping around freaking out, and my dad just stood there laughing at me. Thanks, Dad.

I am an atheist.

I have 2 cats and 1 mini-dog.

I have no desire to have other pets as they are all difficult to care for and/or messy and only the really cute ones get me past that. My personal version of "cute" is furry and simple (as far as pets go).
