If I choose to save someone from jumping off a cliff, who is to say that if that person really wants to die, that they won't try to kill themselves again. If they succeed a second time, then my initial effort would have been for not. Thus, I would choose to take the $500M. Additionally, I could do more good with the money because I could help myself, my family, and my friends who are struggling financially. I would also have enough left over afterwards to donate to help other needy people in this country who are starving or homeless.
But, if that person was my BF, a family member, or a friend, then I would definitely choose to save them instead of taking the money.

To many of us in this day and time have forgotten the golden rule of love your neighbor as you love yourself. If you think about which one is more important. Is the money or the life more important? I think that if you help save the person's life then you might get blessed even still with the $500M. Because the person you have saved my be a billionaire stressed out from the life that he leads.

Honestly? This isn't a very good question.
If I knew the person jumping, I'd try to coax them down. If I didn't know them, what good would it do if some stranger tried to coax them down? They need a close friend to do it for them.
If they are bungee-jumping, why stop them?
So, I'd probably go for the 500 mil and keep just 1 mil and give the rest away.
If I knew the person, I'd try to save them. If I didn't know them, there would be a slim to none chance of me actually doing anything to help out in the situation.
So, it depends on the situation. But I'd probably go for the money. Save more lives with it.

I would save someone from "falling" off a cliff.
"Jumping" to me implies a suicidal act... it is more of a mental problem if anything. If I saved the guy on Thursday, he would probably try again on Friday; I'm not sure my action would have made a whole lot of difference in the grand scheme of things.

Save someone from jumping off a cliff.
What's $500M? ...vs the thought one would have for the rest of one's life, for not saving the fellow.

I would definitely try save that someone. Because if I take the money, yes I will be rich. But then I would never be able to live with myself after that, because I know I didn't even try saving that person. Money can't buy you love, but hey, perhaps saving a person could. It's karma, baby.
