My job title is assistant key holder. But I was told by a colleage that HR staff/ hiring people don't like to see the word "keyholder" on a resume or cover letter because:
1. it doesn't look as important as manager
2. they may have no idea what a keyholder is

Are these true?

Secondly, he says I should drop the "assistant" and just put something along the lines of "store manager". What is your take on this? Should I listen to him, or just write Assistant Keyholder in my resume and cover letter?

Mind, this is for an Administrative position(Admin Asst, Receptionist, etc.)

I am the assistant manager of the store, and function as such, but my official title is asst keyholder. The general store manager is called "Head Keyholder" My company loves to soften things up...even job titles.

I'd show it on your resume as "assistant keyholder (assistant manager)". That way you are showing your official title, but also explaining what that is. (If I'd seen that on a resume I was reviewing, I wouldn't have had a clue what it is - and I've reviewed a lot of resumes over the years).

Don't drop the "assistant" - that would be lying about your position, and it's not a good idea to lie on a resume.

I would use your job title as defined by your employer. Often, hiring managers will contact your previous employers, and the absolute LAST thing you want to do is get stuck looking like a liar. Once you get into your interview, you can point out what managerial duties you had and why they would be of benefit to the company you are interviewing with.

It's also never a bad idea to research the company online before you have the interview. Then think about how the skills that you posses now might fit with the company. You can always customize your resume to fit the position applied for. For example, if the position is Accounts Receivable, you can point out say, any bank deposit experience you may have had.

As someone who started off as a "shift leader" at age 17 at the local Dairy Queen, and is now an executive assistant, I can tell you that employers do value the skills that you would possess as a keyholder/manager/crewleader. Get into that first admin job, work hard, learn the ropes, and you'll be ready to work your way up! Good luck to you.

Don't lie about your title. You will get caught. You can change it a little to be more clear, but "Assistant Keyholder" hardly sounds like the same thing as "Store Manager." It's best to put "Assistant Keyholder" and the list your main responsibilities, starting with whatever keyholding is.

Well, you can write in your resume the title of your job and that is Assistant keyholder. If asked what it means, you tell them the truth, no big deal. Usually, the job description is more important than the title e.g. what your functions are as assistant keyholder. Do not fabricate lies, it does not look good if you will be found lying about your "position." It is better to be honest from the start.

Jet black hair. I have actually dark brown hair and I consider dark hair looks better. I don't really like blonde hair.

Yes drop keyholder, not even sure what that is, so if I saw the resume, I would just say what is that? Also if you can drop assistant without it being a lie, do that also.

Eat goats cheese as an alternative to regular cheese. It contains 40 percent fewer calories than the cheese constructed from cow’s milk.

Eat muesli two hours before training to boost fat burning as you train. Slow to digest, muesli takes longer to get through your system, so is less likely to end up turned into fat and still offers you a good energy boost.
