Ibuprofen is a very effective pain reliever/antiinflammatory. It has been linked to liver damage though (same for Tylenol). I have been prescribed 600 mg. ibuprofen for a back injury three times a day. I think it is safe to take one daily. But I am not your doctor. Only your doctor can tell you if it is right for you. No one on here is qualified to tell you that for certain, so have yourself checked out, it could be a sign of something else. Maybe a dental problem, or a vision problem.... Who knows.
Good luck.
Stevo.

Once a day ibuprofen at low dose of 200-400 mg would not cause significant side effects and at low dose, it the lowest incidence of gastrointestinal unfavorable effects(be careful though if you had an existing gastrointestinal problems such as ulcer.) The cause of your headaches is a matter that you need to be concerned of, try to find out what is its cause especially if it occurs frequently. If you are certain that such headaches are just ordinary headaches than, it would better to try paracetamol instead. It would be at your best interest to see a doctor if your headaches are frequent. Take care.

400 mg is a reasonable dose for ibuprofen. Something I would caution you on, however, is the risk of stomach problems with prolonged use of ibuprofen and similar drugs (NSAIDs). They can cause ulcers when used for an extended period of time, and so ibuprofen is best used on a more occasional basis so you can avoid this problem.

While it is sometimes prescribed for chronic arthritis, the long term effects can cause stomach ulcers/GI Bleeding. Taking it with some food will help reduce this. I would try to limit your intake as much as possible.

No. not totally "safe". I've taken 3 a day for headaches for several years and I need an ulcer medication also. I blame it on the ibuprofen.

It can have side effects that include irritation of the lining of the stomach. Headaches are often caused by stress so try to relax more. You could also use paracetamol or paracetamol and codine.

This drug does have long term side effects, such as GI bleeding, like I said in another post. If you have chronic headaches, see your doctor and get the reason why you are having headaches. It could possibly be a variety of things such as hypertension, heart defects, or diet. Don't be scared, just go see the doctor please.
