Hi,
Recently while installing some subwoofers in my car, I slipped and put a tiny tear in the cone of a 10" vibe black air.

Would this affect it alot, and if so is it possible to rectify?

Thanks

get a little black silicone sealant (rtv) and put it on both sides of your tear. you'll be good as new.

It's almost certain that you won't notice any difference in sound quality at all, though the tear may get larger over time. A "tiny tear" won't reduce the amount of air that the cone pushes, which is really all a subwoofer does in the end. As long as the damage isn't so bad that it weakens the cone enough to make it flex and rattle, then the effect on the sound quality is nil. This is even more true if the subs are in your trunk, because any higher-frequency distortion created by the tear won't be audible through the seats and rear deck.

hmm not the best situation to be in however there shouldn't be any major sound deterioration at all, the main downer is going to be the visual appearance, if you want a great, show stopping install get a new one , if not then just leave it besides you've got it so your the judge cos we can't hear what it's gonna sound like! good luck!

Well after a certain time, that small tear will get bigger and you will have to end up buying a new sub all together.

Stick some back tape on and it should hold.

You'll notice a slight deterioration is sound quality. You'll need a new one. Those are the pre-amped those aren't they, can get them for around £150-160.
