Isn't it hard to suppress human nature to enjoy yourself? Religion was used to control the people. Great councils decided what to keep and dispose. So are we still trying to live up to un-realistic standards just to follow the writtings that has been tampered with to control us?

The people who "get to heaven" make a decision that there are things in life of greater value then momentary pleasure. They put aside their own desires in order to help others, to make a difference in their world, and to serve the One they love the most. They know that the long term satisfaction and reward they will gain from that for outweights anything of the fleeing pleasures of sin.

If you are following tampered with writings, may I recommend that you switch to scriptures that have not been altered, such as the New Testament. As we still have 2,300 copies of the New Testament books that predate any of the first church councils that alledged altered them, yet are word for word the same as the later manuscripts, that is very solid evidence that the Christian scriptures have not been altered.

I you want to talk about the human nature, in my opinion, it is human instinct to believe in a god or afterlife. Before councils or anything like that, when we were still pretty primitive tribal people, everyone believed in gods. You simply couldn't feel complete without a religion. After Darwin, people began to find scientific approaches to disprove religions. If it weren't for modern science, my guess is that we wouldn't even be questioning the existence of any gods.

It may be fun for a while, but it will catch up to you in the end and bite you in the bootie.

God has our best interests in mind!

Just like a child wanting to eat all the cookies. Yummy, they sure are good!! But OWWW what a huge stomach ache after they are all eaten. Why didn't you just listen to someone who loved you very much and said "Don't eat all the cookies."

Doing right for the sake of right makes more sense. Some of the writings controlled...but listen to your inner voice from the heart. It will tell you about your personal spirituality.

What unrealistic standards? Maybe they are to you, but not to all. You may think that "bad" is 'fun', but is it? Unless you you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you are not going to heaven. What writings have been tampered with?
