Hey hun. Cutting is a way to reduce anger, tension, anxiety, ect... You need to replace those urges with other feelings, if you do this then you shouldn't have a problem with urges. Try a new sport or exercise. Physical exertion can at times be painful; try and exercise that raise your pulse count. Running a mile, 100 push ups. If you use the physical exertion idea, just make sure you drink pleanty of water so you don't get dehydrated. Maybe think about joining one or two of these support forums:

If you need advice on a specific problem try emailing this man. He's a teen motivational speaker, he has spoken to a million kids in over 18 states; nation wide. His name is Paul Dunbar, and he's always welcoming new emails, and he always personally responds to his emails. Here is his website, check it out:

Think about joining blogging communities such as xanga, live journal or myspace. You can make "keyboard" pals that may or may not have the same problems as you, but it's always have someone there to talk to if you need to. Just make sure to remember that you never ''really'' get to ''know'' everyone on the net. Remember that they are ALL strangers! Never give out personal information.

Know your local crisis support line numbers incase you are feeling down or suicidal.

it seems to be a "word of mouth" kind of thing. I know one school where a student did it, then another saw it and did it etc, before long half the student body was doing it. Instead of that, try talking to a counsler, talk to your parents if you can ( some parents are difficult, I know) but try. Don't cut. it leaves scars that will haunt you for the rest of your life, and doesn't solve anything. It just creates more problems. If you need to talk and don't have anyone else, email me and I'll try to help you.

Ask yourself WHY you want to cut yourself. If it's because of self-esteem issues, seek help from a friend you trust or a therapist. If it's for fun, research scarification and have it done properly.

If you are cutting yourself that means probably something in your life is bothering you. You need to go out and do fun stuff to get your mind off whatever that is.
