You need to not think so much about what is happening now, but what could happen later on in life. If at 50 or 60 years old and you have gum disease and bone loss in that area you may have to have not only the wisdom tooth removed but also the 2nd molar in front of it if the gum disease is severe. Think of removing it now as a preventative measure. It is not good to leave them in. They are a major source for bacteria to harbor in because you can't clean all the way down.

If you aren't having any pain or discomfort, then they should be able to stay. Talk to your dentist the next time you go and ask them what they think. If you have the room in your mouth for them, they shouldn't cause you any problems. By the way, having your wisdom teeth removed is no big deal. You would only be out of commission for about 2-3 days. It's not a huge major surgery we're talking about.

I've had a partially erupted wisdom tooth for a year or so. It isn't causing any discomfort and neither the dentist nor hygenist seemed to think it was a big deal at my last check up, so I'm not messing with it. As long as they aren't causing you any pain and you're not getting infections (like from food getting caught in between, yuck!) I wouldn't worry about them.

It isn't a problem now but can quickly become a problem. If food or bacteria get under there (popcorn and sees) it can cause an infection and that can quickly be dangerous b/c it can spread to a space under the chin and swell and cut off your air way putting you in the hospital. My husband had the tissue removed off the top of his, but his were all the way in and barely covered and that was not my choice. I would have had them removed b/c they are usually more trouble than they are worth.

You need to have them removed..HAving the gum over them means little food particles get stuck in there and you will get cavities .Also they might be pushing your teeth forward which will get make them crooked..I only felt bad one day , after having a few of mine removed..

You might want to have the dentist decide if you should have them removed... I had all 4 of mine removed, although they weren't causing me any pain they were crowding my mouth and I had braces for 7 yrs.. So, we opted to get rid of them.. It wasn't bad and mine were impacted so they had to smash the teeth to get them out.. I was in pain the first couple days, but I could do things I wasn't on bed rest or anything.. You don't want to get an absess or have them get infected that's really bad/painful...
