Surely you have a Bible around the house. If so turn to the first book which is Genesis (means beginnings) and you will find the account you mentioned. (dthe 7 day thing). This is a theological answer as to the beginning of the world and humanity as we know it. It can be said and is so interpreted by many that since the Hebrew word for Day used in the passages is the word YOM (which is used in other places to mean a period of time longer than 24 hours (even a season of time in others) that the 7 day referecne was referring to a 24 hour day but to a period of time. That is insignificant for the most important fact to come away with is that this universe was createdd by A Divine entity, namely God (called Yahweh) in the Scripture. Read it, you might like it.,

The 7th day is the day of rest which is also known as "Sabbath". God rest on the 7th day b/c that was the Sabbath.

Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. also God just rested on the 7th day b/c thats how its suppose to be but for us we are suppose to pray, and speak about the Lord on that day. That day is for Him

well chad...first of all you cannnot read Genesis in english and understand what it says. impossible.

1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Period)
2) The earth was void and without form. (What does the hell does that mean? properly translated it should read--->The earth BECAME TOHU VA BOHU, or the earth became laid waste and utterly destroyed. So at some point waaaaaaaay back when it was created. Then it became laid waste say when a large comet or planetoid hit the planet and tilted it on its axis.)
Then after that destruction God cleaned up the planet and said let there be light etc....as in on the planet after a days, weeks, months, years etc..of massive dust clouds and soot from volcanoes etc...

THEN God said "let us/elohim/God and the angels make man in OUR/Elohim image" and God said go and be fruitful and multiply upon the face of the earth and REPLENISH The earth. replenish means there was something BEFORE. ....and this was the day and the Evening of the SIXTH DAY....so men and women created on the SIXTH DAY...THEN God rested on the 7th day....at least 1000 years is a day to God....drop in the bucket...THEN GOd 'saw he had no man to til the soil' or the lineage of messiah to enter the flesh..so he created Ha Adam/the man.....
