Yes, it is possible to keep your social circle small. That's the way I like it. I find that too many people around me is to much stimulation of the wrong kind. I am the kind of person who likes living in the woods and rarely seeing others, other than the people I live with and those who come by to see me. This world is to full of people. We weren't meant to live so close to each other and we were not meant to live on top of each other. Let's face it, the world of people hasn't learned , yet, to respect the simple things in life. Most are rushing around trying to fill an empty hole and they don't even realize that if they just stopped, enjoyed the moment, life would take on a whole different perspective. Enjoy your life, it's yours and if it makes you happy taking a different path, take that different path. There are lot more adventures on the path less traveled.

It is a question I ponder. But there is a possible flaw in this. You need the baker for your bread. You need the postman to deliver your mails. So it is virtually impossible to not like people , since they do, after all , do things FOR YOU. Think of your banker. Or the people you think have no connections with YOU. How about people who build your house? If it is not for all these people, would you even be typing this in your lovely house on a computer made by humans? Good luck ♥♥♥

Why not? Your not saying you have hatred for people. Your not saying you want everyone to die - your just saying you don't care for them right? I don't see anything wrong with a person not wanting to be social. Heck, there are some people out there that should NOT be social because they are so rude and unkind. I think there is nothing wrong as long as your not hurting anyone else. It's not normal - but neither are a lot of people so who cares. I'm not one to judge.

There are people who are "introverts", who need time alone to recharge their batteries. Dealing with other people drains their energy and makes them want to get away.

On the other hand, most people are "extroverts". They recharge their batteries by dealing with other people. Their energy is drained by being alone.

There are plenty of books on the subject. I am a bit introverted, myself. I tend to go out sparingly, as most of the time, I do in fact prefer to be alone. But I also think that is a symptom of the fact that I am in a very "public" occupation, being in sales. I deal with people so much during the day, that I would think seeking some alone time is only natural.

I think that may be why I like this forum so well, it's not like I'm actually associating in a real-life sort of way. I haven't had company in my home for years and I never visit anyone. I call no one, my phone never rings. This is what I prefer.

I am like that at times. There are people that I just don't care to meet or like. I can't even explain it. I dont even like much company from family members, friends, etc. For example, if I visit my mom and see my siblings cars, I keep going. lol..

Misanthropy? Sure. Nothing wrong with that. I used to subject myself to all kinds of undesirable social gatherings until I wised up.

Your senario describes me for the simple reason that if you have friends you inadvertibly end up doing things that you don't want to do. Family is enough for me.

I have found that sometimes, some people can be so evil-minded, that I prefer to let them be.

When you meet anyone who leaves you drained and miserable, you need to give them a wide berth.
