I had pictures taken at 8 wks (family portrait), and then at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. I also kept a disposable camera around to take random shots throughout the year. Except for the family portrait, I always went to Sears and paid for the $10 package (way too many pictures), and maybe $10 for the sitting fee, if they charged for it.

Try JCPenny -join the portrait package and you will get free sitting fees. I had my twins pics taken about 6 times that first year. I didn't spend a fortune and the pics were cute. Have newborn and 6 months pics taken in just a diaper it is much cuter. I learned the hard way after going all over to find the perfect outfit the one in the diaper was the cutest. Don't spend hundreds of dollars like some of the other people this is ridiculous.

I got a free 8x10 coupon for The Picture People and had a portrait done. When my kids were 1 1/2 and 1 month old. I didn't buy anything else, just took the 8x10. I just had portraits taken at Portrait Innovaions and it cost a lot, if you want the cd with all the picture's.. I did however get 1 pose with a ton of pictures and we spent about $80... Which was too much in my opionion... If you go on Portrait Innovations website they have a portrait pkg that's $10 for 1 pose... It's a lot of pictures... Next time I'll do my hardest to stick with that. I've also had really good luck with Target and there's always coupons in the Sunday circular.... If you are good with a camera you can take your own portraits and get a nice size package at Walgreens for about $10... However, I had family that wanted "professional prints" even though I take really nice pictures and have a background in photography..

I had my son's picture taken every 3 months for the first year. I spent about $30 to $50 each time. Sears and JC Penney's both have "clubs" that you join for 2 years for a small fee...$20 or $25. If you join their club you don't have to pay the $10 or $15 sitting fee each time. It is worth it because even if you only go twice in two years, you don't lose any money. It is also handy because sometimes you get to the mall, and the baby just doesn't cooperate -- crying or spit up on the "perfect" outfit. It happens! You don't have to pay anything or order, so you just come back another day. It takes some of the stress out of it. Have fun with your new baby!

I had pictures taken at 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and then 1 year. I bought a package at Sears photography and that saved on not having to pay for a sitting fee every time and it paid for itself real quick I think that it was good for two years. I think I paid $80-$100 every time, but I also have a very large family. My computer was old and couldn't do pictures on it, you can save money that way if you can do it on your computer. Just remember that the bigger the picture is the better, I'm trying to say that if you want to make copies use an 8x10 to make smaller pictures the quality is so much better.

I got pictures done in the hospital, like 3 days old, costs me about $75, then I got them done at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, and 2 years Each time cost me between $30-$60. Now I just get them done every year. We usually do christmas ones too but just with our own digital camera with the whole family dressed up.

I took my son to Wal-Mart several times his first yr. Right after birth, 3 mos, 6 mos, 9 mos and 1st B-day. They have specials where it's $5.00 for like 40 pictures, but you only get one pose. Even if I bought additional poses , I never spent over $55. I think you should take them several times because the first year flies by. The Picture People in malls, they are really good, too and have some really cute props. They have a website that you can download really good coupons. They did all my son's holiday shots, like Valentine's ( they dressed him as cupid in a red velvet diaper with wings and he was holding an arrow), Easter, they put big bunny ears on him and set him up next to these HUGE eggs. It was sooo cute. Check out their website.

i just grabbed a camera and discovered I had talent for taking pictures. If u have a digital camera you can do some great shots by just taking the picture as they are nand not trying to pose them . Just keep in mind not to get too much background and focus more on the body and face and u will get some great shots. r u in tennessee? if so i can do some pics for u.

I didn't do it on purpose, but I ended up getting them every four months with my daughter. I got the hospital ones when she was born, then Christmas ones, then springtime ones, around Easter, then 1st birthday ones. The amount I spent varied. I mostly went to Walmart, the springtime ones I spent around $150 on cuz there were at least 4 different poses I liked and got. Her and the backgrounds were SOO cute, I couldn't help it! LOL The other ones I didn't get many of, just the regular package and some extras, just to have them.

well with my first child I got one done everymonth BUT that was because his daddy was in Iraq and I wanted him to see how much he had changed from month to month which is a lot when I look back on the pics. With my second he is 9 months and I have taken him 2 times so it just all depends.
