i asked the aboev question. however i did not get to chose what i thought was the best answer and i dont agree with the answer chosen. what do you think? i think the person who answered doesnt really know about JW's.

i personally agreed with the answer about "pearls to swine" because alot of people here just like to argu, they dont really care what you have to say.

(i'm not calling anyone swine ok, its just a term used in the bible.)

In the question i asked, i simply wanted to get other JW's view points on the matter. I didnt want to hear a former JW put our religion down. She did not answer my question, she simply put down my religion. and i didnt appreciate that.

I personally don't like the BA, even if I did agree with it, because you prefaced it as only wanting the opinions of Witnesses and that person clearly is not a Witness.

Dear Diet Rootbeer,

There were several good answers to that question and I had a hard time deciding which to vote for but I did vote for Suzanne's answer and I wasn't the only one. She had 7 votes besides mine. Not only that she had 53% of the vote. I voted for her because I could tell that she knew very well what she was talking about.

I have not asked a question so I don't know how it works. I've sometimes emailed an asker to say "I hope you haven't forgotten to pick a best answer". Sometimes I don't hear anything back but other times I'm thanked for the reminder.

Why not just look at this as a learning experience in asking questions?

Edit: I just came across an example of the exact opposite happening which may give you some comfort. The question was asked by a Christian and a JW was voted the Best answer.

I find it VERY rare for someone to ask a sincere question, and yet the answers get bombarded by apostates telling an active witness what to do. Honestly, can you expect Jehovah to protect you against such nonsense when its something that we dont have to do? Its almost like drinking and then praying to Jehovah for protection as you drive. We know what the scriptures say about bad association and the apostates on here are still against Jehovah. (proven by the fact that they left Jehovah) True enough we can hide their responses, but why "throw yourselves into the lions den" We have many ways to reach people with Jehovah's word and Jehovah said that all will know his name, so its not necessary. I say stick to the non-religious categories. If a persons heart condition is right, Jehovah will see that they come to know him!!!!!!!

The person who gave the previously selected "best answer" does know about Witnesses... I'd venture to say quite a bit. Not that they are accurately conveying what they know, as they are, by their own admission, an apostate.

In answer to your original question though, I'd say it's a conscience matter. Answering questions asked by some in the hopes that someone will be interested in learning more... or be set straight is a good thing. At the same time, there are plenty of apostates asking misleading questions, and spreading false information about us here, so being careful is definately in order.

The one chosen as best answer was from a person known to be an apstate. This is the answer I would have chosen from TeeM since it is closet to my own personal veiws and what the Bible says about this.

I normally don't answer questions such as this.

But here is what I found while waiting for my son.

Phil 1:15 True, some are preaching the Christ through envy and rivalry, but others also through goodwill. 16 The latter are publicizing the Christ out of love, for they know I am set here for the defense of the good news; 17 but the former do it out of contentiousness, not with a pure motive, for they are supposing to stir up tribulation [for me] in my [prison] bonds. 18 What then? [Nothing,] except that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being publicized, and in this I rejoice. In fact, I will also keep on rejoicing,

Honest hearted ones will see the truth thru the lies.

I've had several non witnesses email asking questions or expressing thanks.

The research I've done has helped me in my door to door ministry.

Is Yahoo answers for all witnesses? Probably not.

I hope this helps

From my own perspective, this forum has become an adjunct to my door to door ministry. I also do a lot of letter wrting and phone witnessing. Due to physical limitations I can not participate in the door to door ministry as much as I would like to. I would suggest, though that you e-mail individual Witnesses with this type of question.

You can chose your own best answers. If you don't decide after 3 days yahoo community votes on it. Unless you extend the time. I have had very few and not enough informative answers on certain questions. It happens. You say you didn't get to choose. yahoo doesn't give reminders on questions one has posted. It's up to you to go to your profile page look up the question to see what answers it got. After 5 hours you have the option of choosing a best answer.

dietrootbeer, I'm not a Witness. I studied for awhile, but decided against it. I hope you will stay on Yahoo Answers, if that is your wish, because to say that you "shouldn't" be on here because other people on here give answers that you don't agree with, doesn't make any sense. You seem to be in fear. Of what?

You shouldn't be afraid of lies that people might say. Don't believe them if they're lies. On the other hand, you shouldn't be afraid of the truth, either. None of us know everything; and you might learn something you didn't know before.

I stand by my original answer which is as follows:

As a former JW, I implore you to continue on this site, not because we want to hear your WBTS babble but because you just might be able to see the sense of your obedience to the society and not to God.

Your question implies that the society has warned you against bad association, communication with disfellowshipped persons, and reading anything from apostates. There are plenty of those here.

Ever wonder why we are ex JW's? Try reading some of our answers even though the society/governing body/faithful and discreet slave class (as they call themselves) has TOLD you NOT to. Ever wonder what the underlying reason is. You might just find the truth of "the truth" and see that you have been manipulated, lied to, and deceived.

Ask yourself the same question you ask those of who you study with: Why examine your own religion? Then do that...examine it, but not with WBTS publications, that's like studying creation from a science book, you'll only get the answers THEY want you to have not the true answers.

This I just had to respond to:

We go solely on the bible and not man.
Call me apostate all you want, but that is a misleading statement! It shows you really don't know your organization's history (as well as recent events). This is a human (and more specifically male-) driven organization.

As the organisation of Witnessess has not done this, that shows me that what they are teaching is the truth taught from the bible.
The truth as they (the GB) interpret it.

I grew up a witness but left for 6 years to "see what was out there" and you know what? I was so enraged by churches agreeing to wars and agreeing with things that are bad in the bible, I began to look back into the bible and have never looked back.

you obviously didn't look long enough.

Okay, if I understand your original question, you are asking if it's okay for yourself & other JW's to expose themselves to the views of other non-JW believers, as well as unbelievers?

Depends who you ask. Nearly every religion warns about exposing yourself to those who might cause you to think independently and question your own religion. Funny thing is, if the religion is worried about it so much, could it be because it knows it is not supported by facts, reason, or evidence? Of course, it's also funny because nearly every Christian-based religion wants you to evangelize - but carefully, running away if you end up being the one who might be converted!

I have nothing to convert anyone to, I merely want people to think for themselves - and that, of course, means looking for differing views and researching all the sources and comparing them rationally, which means you need to know something about logic and evidence and can't accept things on faith - but that let's out most religions, doesn't it?

you should have gotten to choose the person you thought answered best, I get emails when I get new answers to my questions and once they are closed an email asking me or telling me to choose the best answer. If you disagree your doing it now letting people know, I am not a JW but have a friend who is and her and I study together in the word, if I disagree we can discuss it further my believe and hers and still friends, because I work daily on my relationship with Jesus
