I work a stressful job. I suffer from muscle tightness and spasms in my neck. Can tight muscles in the neck and occipital area cause soreness behind the eyes?

unsure about soreness behind the eyes(brain pain?). But if muscles spasms are your problem they're caused by lack of water. Make sure you're drinking water during the day 64oz every 24 hours is the average reccommended amount depending on body size and amount of exercise you get.

Also be sure to take a multivitamin and try to get some potassium in your diet as it helps to regulate fluid. Good sources of potassium include potatoes and bananas.

Also try to get at least some exercise during the day as it will help to regulate stress.

I have something called myofascial pain syndrome. It began exactly as you describe. Yes, tightness of the SCM (sternocleidomastoid) muscles can cause soreness behind the eyes, other headaches, dizziness, etc.

It would be well worth it for you to take some steps now to keep your problem from progressing. Consider physical therapy and/or occupational therapy and making your workstation more ergonomic. If necessary, consider a less stressful job. Your health is more important.

Good luck.
