I see those questions almost daily: "so many people believe in Jesus, it has to be true!" or "there are so many copies of the Bible sold, it has to be the truth!!"

There seem to to be people who actually believe that truth is measured in numbers. Which is fine, everybody is free to believe as they please.

Now, I always see people answering such question, explaining that simply because Britney Spears sold 200 million albums, doesn't automatically mean that she is an awesome singer/composer. Those answers usually get at least 15 thumbs up.

However, the asker usually picks an answer that says "Jesus is great!!", with 27 thumbs down.

I'm always interested in how people's minds work. Anybody can explain to me why people who believe that the truth is in numbers, don't actually believe that the truth is in numbers?

"I reject your reality and substitute my own!"

Thumbs down can be viewed in two ways - whichever most validates your viewpoint! If you get a lot of thumbs up, it means the majority is with you. "See? I was right all along!" If you get a lot of thumbs down, it means you are persecuted. "See? I was right all along. Jesus said they'd persecute me!"

It's their own bias. When someone asks a question about 'why atheists do ___' or 'I'm a Christian, why would anyone doubt what I believe', they want a certain answer. They want their own answer to be justified.

So, there could be an answer with many thumbs up that is more detailed and better, but if they see it gives reasons why someone should doubt Christianity, or it defends atheism, and they'll choose one that justifies their own beliefs instead.

"Atheism is not a religion, simply because it's a word that shouldn't even exist..." I wrote an answer to a question that said "Atheism is a religion. Agree or disagree?" and provided the exact reasons why it isn't a religion. I myself am considered an atheist because I don't believe in any Gods, however, I wasn't even aware of my name being 'atheist' for a few years. That doesn't mean that I joined a new religion.

So, which answer 'won'? The one that said that atheism WAS a religion, simply because it takes faith to not believe in God and Jesus.

People use majority to prove they are right, then go against majority when it tries to prove them wrong.

People want what they want, and they don't care if it's wrong or biased.

What I like are the ones asking "are you a christian" or "Do you believe in the bible" and you get 50 thumbs down for saying "no". But hey, it was an honest answer! Best answer always goes to someone who coincides with the asker's opinion on those.

this is what religions churn out day in day out in most of the people .

An absolute lack of a universal insight into divinity .

people asserting jesus was ,is and will be the only one .

While god has been here in his purest elements , in quite a number of divine personalities , innumerable times .

But these divine forms didn't perform miracles , to satisfy their stupid minds .

any one who speaks the truth , either gets ignored or is crucified like JESUS CHRIST .

Despite all these the divine plan is behind evrything evr in this universe .

it does the job without a trace , in absolute silence , it doesn't need our approval or our recognition .

if todays fundamentalist religions and it's followers do not understand this simple truth , you know how stupid they are .

Jesus the ONLY saviour , allah the ONLY supreme ,

BIBLE BOOKWORMS .

satisfied with following ordinary weekly rituals .

What an imbecile way of thinking .

A lot of time people ask a question not looking for a different view point or even a real answer, but just a validation of what they already believe. That's why they'll pick the answer they agree with, thumbs up/down aside.

The people (let's just say it -- CHRISTIANS!) who believe truth is in numbers always fail to acknowledge that there are almost 3 times as many people in China as there are in the U.S., and most of those people don't believe in the Christian god.

Funny how that works.

If I was the only person on the planet that did not prescibe to the tenets of christianity, it would still be illegitimate and I would have long ago been executed
