Tattoo on your wrist in nursing is not the way to go. I know personally if I was in hospital and a nurse came in to start I.V. or anything like that. If she had a tattoo on her wrist or hand or anywhere near her hands I'd call for a different nurse.

Next you are going to be a professional so why do you want a tramp (old biker Chick) stamp on you in the first place.

Tattoos even affect us guys getting jobs. I have a tattoo of the Marine emblem and I learned real fast to cover when going on a job interview. And keeping it covered until I was off the 60- 90 day probation period.

My mother's been an RN for 30 years. She was in the Navy first and then she taught nursing school. Now she works with a home healthcare company. When you're a nurse, you're supposed to be professional. Unfortunately it means not being able to express yourself. You have to fit into a mold. A lot of facilities will not take you if you have a tattoo on your wrist. Upper arm is one thing, wrist is another. My mom had students come back to her all the time telling her they couldn't find jobs because of facial piercings or neck/wrist tattoos. You have to keep in mind the demographic of your patients. Baby boomers don't want heavily tattooed people providing their healthcare. They associated that with criminals. My mother went to several workshops on it when she was teaching.

With her home healthcare company it's worse. She deals with CPAs and LPNs all the time that come in to the office to pick up assignments unappropiately or went to someone's house looking like trash. One RN went to someone's house in a see through white sundress and some espadrilles.

Pick something else besides the inner wrist. You have to fit the workforce's idea of professionalism and right now it's narrow.

I really don't think it will be that big of a deal. I have full sleeves and am covered with tattoo's. I have a very professional high paying job.
I would get it for sure. I had a job once where I had to wear long sleeves, and part of my tattoo's on my wrist were showing, so I got a thick leather bracelet and wore it. I had some thick banned watches.
The thought of a tattoo can be quite intimidating if you dont have any. But, they are becoming more and more socially accepted. I myself have seen the world change.
And if you run into any patients with tattoo's you can always show them yours and break the ice. =)
I promise.. You'll be fine.

I just graduate from nursing school. I also got my first tattoo yesterday. Its ok to get it on your inner wrist. As long as you can cover it up then you are fine. Please do not get white ink it does not look good and many tattoo artist will not reccommend it. Only think to remember is always get something you like and will always like. i decided to get a rose and with my name and RN BSN. I love it because through school I was struggling and it shows that I made it through with hardwork and prayer. Always get something that you can cover up because you might decide to go back to school and get your masters or phd. So I say go for it!!!!!!!!!!!

Just get it small enough that it can mostly be covered by your watch band. You'll be wearing a watch most of the time you are at work anyways. Good luck with nursing school, I graduate next May and can't wait.

It really depends on the healthcare facility you will be working in....every one has different policies....but an inner wrist one shouldn't be a problem...if someone says something about it...you can cover it up with a large bracelet or watch...Good Luck
