Because Paul totally turned that on it's ear.

Gezus, people, Jesus said absolutely nothing about homosexuality, homosexual acts or anything of the sort. Nothing! Only Paul broaches the topic. Stop the insanity.

Because organized religions are run by people, and people have prejudices the same prejudices can be found in the Bible stated/written by people with prejudices.

So prejudice people will find writings in the bible to support their short comings. While the true Cristian will look to the words of Jesus for their guidance.

Jesus taught us that the only important thing is love. If an idea or statement isn't from love it isn't from God.

It's your relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit that is important. Not the short comings of others.

He also said that unless the righteous repented of their sins, they, too, would be rejected. It's not a matter of whether or not you "accept" someone. The deal is that to treat someone unjustly or worse, harm them and spill their blood, simply because you think that you are performing a service to God, is far worse a sin than what the person you've harmed ever did. Why? Because you have taken upon yourself the right and authority to judge, and that is the domain of God and God alone. You don't have to accept someone's lifestyle or ideas; it's just not yours to enter into judgement and condemn them. You are told to judge yourself and "then" do right judgement by others. Right judgement by others is according to the Word of God-not your own idea of what is just or right. If a gay man shows up at my door some night all bloody and thirsty, believe me- I'm not going to turn him away. I'm going to cleanse his wounds, give him something to drink and eat, and while I'm doing this my wife will be calling 911 for the police and ambulance to arrive. For God's sake-how the hell could anyone be so callous of heart to do otherwise?

Not all organized religion rejects homosexuality- mostly evangelical Christian/ Catholic denominations. Unitarians, Unity Christians, Buddhists and probably some others accept homosexuality.

Jesus certainly did accept all- he hung out with prostitutes and thieves. I know a lot of people say they "dont accept the sin, but they accept the sinner"-- but honestly that's really up to God, to decide what to accept or not accept. We should really do what Jesus said & "Love thy neighbor as thyself".

Because Jesus was enlightened and those that came into power (men) rejected that and they were not enlightened having messed up Jesus ideal. That's what happens in a male dominated society. Women , who were by far the largest group of people who supported Christ were messed over to.Do you realize that there is a 'book of Mary"? that didn't make it into the bible? And there are so many more that were culled out. That's wrong. I want all of the info. Don't you?

That's organized religion! not Jesus. Jesus didn't care very much for organized religion, they taught the doctrine of men
not of God. Homosexuality is still a sin.

God Bless

Maybe I'm in a different "organised religion"(but it is a well-known denomination) but we don't reject gays. We just reject theiir lifestyle, which the bible says is not pleasing to God. He wants gays to change to straight. We would accept anyone gay into our church but then council them to try to change, just like getting out of any other sin. That would be bringing them to a place of pleasing God. This is not me or my church, it's plain straight what God says. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah - places where about everyone was gay and they even wanted to rape angels?God gave plenty of chances to change but finally exploded both cities.
Second, Jesus didn't accept all without quesion. To those who were sinning, he said "I love you and stop sinning". The whole thing about Christianity is to please God and Jesus demonstrated how to do this.
I''m sorry, on behalf of other churches , that gay people experience personal rejection.
I hope this helps.

In Christianity, it is the acts of being gay that is a sin, we are not supposed to reject anyone, however I am not proud of most churches I know of, because they most often throw the person out along with the sin, and that is a failure to represent Jesus to the people.

My "organized religion" -- Roman Catholicism -- does not reject gays. By "gays," we're talking about people.

The Church does reject homosexual ACTS, though. There's a difference.

In fact, the Catholic Church goes out of its way to insist that all people, regardless of their sexual urgings, be treated with dignity and respect.

But that doesn't mean that the Church has to accept what gay people DO.

Jesus did not accept all without question. He condemned all those not following his beliefs to hell. While there is no God and heaven, the theory is evil towards difference, invented to keep the old peasants in line, and not commit things that the higher nobles thought strange or stupid. Therefore, he didn't accept all, and they rejected gays due to their idiocy.
