Well I am 24 years old, college educated, independent etc.... But i am completely IGNORANT when it comes to religion, in fact I think I even have a mild phobia of going to church. I was born Catholic but rarely went to church and no one in my family is very religous. I have millions of questions but I don't know where to turn. My problem is that for some reason, I have had this extreme desire to go to church and learn about religion, etc.. I have never felt this way in my life, in fact for some time in college I even ignorantly called myself "agnostic". I do not know what type of church to go to. I have only really been to church for funerals. Some people tell me to read the bible but I don't really know where to start. And as far as going to church, my friends do not regularly attend church, so what do I do, do I just randomly walk into a church one week, I don't know it just freaks me out. Hopefully I haven't pissed anyone off by asking this question I honestly want somwhere tostart

Your feelings are God given. Everyone has a need to worship. Some people choose the true God and others choose other gods, money, power, etc. Please keep searching for God, He'll help you find the way. Read the book of Mark. It's short, to the point, and includes all the important information to get started. For a 'church' to attend, try a church of Christ. All the ones I'm familiar with use only the Bible to direct themselves as individual Christians and as a church family. There is no national or international office that directs local congregations and each member is free to grow as God enables them. You should find that you are free to disagree on matters that Salvation does not depend on. But be careful, being a Christian is hard work. It's a job that not everyone is willing to take.

You can check out Pastor Greg at harvest .org if you want an example of what a church gathering would be like. Just look up the webcasts, hit the archive button, and select a message taught by Greg, there should be a number of them, so just pick one that sounds interesting to you. You can skip the worship singing if you wish, I know few people who first go to church that actually WANT to hear all that. You can jump straight to the message using the pull down tab that appears on the window. The messages can be about an hour long or so, give or take.

Start going to chuches every where. all faiths and denominations. Do not read the bible yet. Ask questions of everyone who will answer you. If all you get is a quote from the bible or a "god is the answer" bit of BS then move on to some one who will actually answer your questions. then somewhere down the road try reading the bible, at least the most relevant parts. there are who books where it talks about people who pisith against the wall. Pretty useless as far as I can see. And then ask more questions.

You learn about religion by reading the going to church, reading scripture and praying. You can also feel free to ask the Christians on this board. Just be careful not to stir up a hornets nest.

for human beings that don't fairly know God there is very much of recommendations washing happening. As and eye witness of the risen Lord Jesus; a physician of divinity: and ordained minister, it fairly is my sole objective for being in this solutions ingredient, to divulge the brainwashing you're able to do properly to lookup the story "The Emporers New clothing" for many Christians are purely followers pretending to have faith for in spite of reason, wether because of the fact their family individuals will disown them in the event that they do no longer bypass alongside or they'll bypass to hell etc. speaking of which this is a catalogue of here outright lies and heressies which will assure which you're no longer basically no longer a christian yet which you're working for the devil himself, prepare to be taken aback: speaking basically from the Bible and what it easily teaches no longer opinion or non secular dogma here will land you in Gods' corridor of shame: The doctrine of immortality of the soul. The doctrine which you have a spirit that lives on after the death of the physique, The doctrine of everlasting torment in hell,(examine mathew 5:29,30 What quite gets thrown into hell here? definite you have been lied to because of the fact the observe Jesus used this is Gehenna a rubbish sell off outdoors the city of Jerusalem. fairly asserting the wickeds physique would be thrown interior the trash. a a ways cry sort what many are taught,) the assumption of going to heaven once you die. The doctrine of the so observed as rapture wherein the righteous dissapear and the depraved are left in the back of(examine Mathew 13 the parables ot the wheat and tares and the fishes coach it appears that evidently that churchianity is coaching the right opposite OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST(and all of us know who's followers try this!) Jesus says here that the depraved are taken first AND THE RIGHTEOUS ARE "LEFT in the back of" The Doctrine that the "anti christ is going to make a covenant with the jews and that the jews will rebuild the jewish temple, etc, you may basically know the errors of those issues IN 2 approaches: The Holy spirit opens your eyes and you already know you have been brainwashed, or you have been by no potential brainwashed and you examine the Bible without preconcieved recommendations in simple terms as that's.

You may enjoy this site:
www.religioustolerance.org

It gives you a summary of many various religions and what they believe. It's a neutral site so it's not biased. I recommend it highly.

You could also sign up for a World Religions class just for fun.

Take a history course.

It'll help you to keep things in perspective, and avoid all the annoying biases inherent in learning about religion from someone who presupposes that their way MUST be the right way...
