Or should that be considered someone else? How much, and what kind of, change would be needed for me to effectively be dead, even if this body kept breathing?

Every 7 years every cell in our body has been replaced. Every thing that was you 7 years ago is now dead, replaced with it's genetic equivalent. Just something to think about.

Speaking as a Buddhist, their is no permanent "you" so you are not the same person that started reading this sentence by the time you get to here.

Atheism calls into question the existance of gods, but encompasses the entire range of possible beliefs about the human soul/spirit. So, as an atheist, you might believe just anything about your personal continuity.
