My friend called me saying the his gilfriend is going to kill heself. he has reason to believe that she really will.
She's 27 and she's already said if anyone tries to get her help that she'll lie.
What should be done?

I think you can get her locked up for 72 hours based on suicide threats. Look on suicide help website and see how it is done.
Maybe she is just a drama queen, but if he thinks she is truly depressed, not just threatnening him, he should get her some help.

I don't know about where you live but in NY if you call the police they have to take the person to a psychiatric hospital for at least 72 hours. that would give her time to think about whether or not she wanted to get help. If she keeps doing it enough times than they will probably commit her for a longer period of time. Also tell the police what she's told your friend that she would lie about it. That was they will be on the look out for it. Most doctors are used to dealing with people who are in the mist of denial. They have experience dealing with these issues.

As long as the worst she'll do is "lie" if she gets help, then GET HER HELP! It doesn't matter if she'll lie, someone will be able to break through to her eventually. She's broken and hurting and will eventually cave in to a counsellor or psychologist.

Talk to a psycologist and tell them what is going on.They might be able to give you some advice on this. If she has had suicide attempts you definitely need to let the authorities know about it. Because if you don't then she could be gone.
