They don't care. Witness:
-the VA hospital debacle
-Halliburton feeding contaminated food and water to our troops
-not supplying the troops with proper equipment, body armour
-continuing to put troops in harm's way in a war that shouldn't even have been started
Bush and the republicans care NOTHING about the troops. They only care about themselves and their huge bank accounts.

The Bush administration is trying to fix problems that have haunted the military forever. Actually the military is doing very well. Even though the U.S. is fighting in two countries, being in the military hasn't been in the top 10 most dangerous careers. For every 1 person in the military killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, 5 lumber jacks have died in the U.S. and 3 children have drowned in Britain.

Do some research my friend. It is the republicans that are increasing the size of our military because they realize that the democrats plan of do more with less is not possible. You will also find that republicans often give greater pay increases and bonuses for the military. Not sure why you think republicans don't like the military. Would be interested to hear why this question came up and some sources that support this stance.

They do. If deploying troops to the Middle East translates into "not giving a crap" about them, no leader in the history of the world has ever given a crap about his military men (and, in more recent times, women.) They are over there because they are doing their best to defend our freedom. Somewhere along the line that was seen as an important thing to defend. We don't know everything about the government's reasons for sending our troops over there or for keeping them there; that doesn't mean there aren't good ones. We may not see how having troops in the Middle East right now is useful, but just because we don't know, that doesn't mean it's pointless. The military can't reveal every last detail to us because that would mean revealing those details to people who a) have no business knowing them or b) would use them against us. Have a little faith.

Mainly because so few Republicans have actually served in the armed forces. Cheney got 5 draft deferments. And George Bush should be considered a deserter. People who a have actually seen war up close and personal like John Kerry are smeared by cowards who never served.
To the Bush administration and the rubber-stamp Republican party, military personnel are good for photo ops and enforcing business interests overseas. Bush also found soldiers useful for pumping up his approval rating by starting an unneeded, un-winnable war in Iraq.
As soon as a soldier who has served honorably speaks up against them, they are labeled as unpatriotic malcontents by Fox news. See what happened to the Tillman family or Scott Ritter.
Republicans are not pro-military, they are pro-military spending. They care about getting defense contracts for their corporate sponsors, not about getting the best equipment or training for the soldiers.
Republicans like to wave the flag for the same reason magicians like to wave wands - it distracts people from what they really need to be paying attention to when our stuff disappears.
Things haven't changed since Smedley Butler wrote "War is a Racket".
For all you people going on about the Clintons, Clinton was following Dick Cheney's plan to downsize the military. General Shinseki told Bush he'd need 500,000 troops to take care of Iraq, Bush tried to do it on the cheap with too few men to occupy the country. Shinseki was forced to retire for telling the truth.
You mouth breathing Republicans can call me unpatriotic all you want, I have a DD-214 that says otherwise.

When you play chess, do you care to sacrifice a pawn to get a queen or even a knight?
So if you think that the game the administration is playing with them right now, is any different from a chess game for them, then your somewhere else.
Still chess game is a honest game, not sure that the game they are playing is virtuous at all...

I guess you have not watched tv or come out from under your rock in a while. They do, I do, and all republicans across America do. Only the libs and democrats dont. Why else would they have cut our military down by more than 2/3. I think you should take a look at your party and make some tough decisions.

Considering that troop morale fell after the Democrats gained control of Congress I would say that the troops have a very good idea of who supports them and who does not.
BTW - do you support the troops, of do you only support your political opinions?
