I recently stayed at a hotel & it had a down comforter & a down cushioned mattress pad. Heaven! And I didn't feel hot at all.

There is this "lightweight" down comforter that has 1/3 less fill than the standard:

Or maybe you just get a down blanket, rather than a comforter. It's not as full, and not as expensive.

Down comes in a variety of thicknesses and price points so only you can decide what works for your needs. Most people turn down their comforters to the foot of the bed. If you do that then there wouldn't be an issue about how warm they are.

You can get thick ones or thin ones. They do tend to keep you warm, but there are all kinds. Check out pacificcoastfeather.com.
