I have a high quality DVD Recorder hooked up to my TV, and in the basement I have a high quality DVD player. Now the problem is, I want to record stuff on a DVD and play it in the basement on a regular DVD player. but when I record a DVD on my DVD Recorder, it won't play on the DVD player downstairs. (I have DVD+R and DVD-R disks, and none of them work.) do I have to format it differantly? because I can only play the DVD's back on the DVD Recorder!

Thanks in advance!

First, use DVD-R because this is the most common supported format for DVD players.

Second, you need to finalize or close the disc. If you leave it as a multi-session DVD, you cannot play it on any DVD player.

I had an early model DVD player that I found does not support the latest DVD recording mediums. If you don't have the original specs, sometime the respective manufacturer has the specs on line so you can confirm what it will support or not.

Have you finalized the disks you created? I know you can't playback DVD's on other equipment unless they are finalized.
