Can you recover documents on microsoft word which have not been saved in the first place?

Been on the computer all day starting an essay and as always forgot to save it all day. then went to close down another word document and when asked whether i would like to save it opted not to, only to realise it was in fact the essay i have been working on all day.

is there anyway to recover it even though i didnt ever save it in the first place. i do have autosave every 10 mins

auto save only works on an already saved document surry

No, if you didn't save it, it's gone.
