And what is the point of prayer through Mary when Jesus stated that in John 14:6 "Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"

Why the need to kiss and hold a cross which is the churches claimed instrument of slow execution.
Also why is Christ depicted as being starved looking and sickly thin when he was a perfectly made and thus a strapping strong man.

Protestant churches use images also. So this is not Catholic only.

spiritroaming, okay you have given some biblical accounts but where does the Catholic justification come in to this of what they do?
And what scriptural restrictions do the Catholics use in their carved and moulded images?

people wear these big crosses around there neck. if Jesus was killed with a gun, would they wear a bullet around there neck also? I remember before I became a witness and lived in new york, going into st patricks church. people where making the sign of the cross and praying to a statue. psalms 115 verse 4- 8. says there idols are silver and gold, the work of the hand of earthling man, a mouth they have, but they cannot speak, eyes they have, but they cannot see, ears they have, but they cannot hear, a nose they have, but they cannot smell, hand are theirs, but they cannot feel. feet are theirs but they cannot walk, they utter no sound with their throat, those making them will become just like them. all those who are trusting in them.

This issue basicaly sums up the irreconcilable differences between Catholic and Protestant faiths.
There was a time not too long ago, wherein if you wanted to call yourself a follower of Christ, yet would question the 7 seven sacraments, then basically you were excommunicated (if lucky.) The not so lucky were executed.
Eventually a large enough group Protested, the Roman sacrament, idol worship, and who has the authority to absolve sin.
But to answer your question, it's riddled throughout the books handed to us from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Samuel , and Peter.
And the teachings from Paul's books as he preached to Titus in Crete, and in the lands of Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Philippi, and Thessalonica.
How the Romans were able to go from being Emperor to Pope, therefore controlling these books, still baffles me.
But i'm guessing its about the time they crucified Peter, upside down on Janiculum Hill.

There is none, matter of fact tit tells us the bible to not make any graven images of anything in heaven or on earth. The Churches are on there own and they would rather practice man made traditions and not those of God. What is so holy about a cross when someone has been murdered on it?

not sure about the statues, but with saints:
In Rev., there's a verse that says something like "the bowls were filled with insense, which are the prayers of the holy ones, and went up before GOD"
and Jesus performed His first miracle at the request of His mother.

Early morning Catholic attack.
Gotta love it when Christians accuse one another of not being biblically sound, especially when the Catholics were the ones who decided what doctrines worked best in the first place through cannonization.
The Bible also teaches you to kill interacial couples, do you follow that law?

No support for Idols in Churches. My Baptist church doesn't have them. My Baptist church doesn't pray to Mary either.

Statues are not adored or worshiped but are simple reminders of the person.

Ah...what can you do, people love art and they want to make everything in their image. Even God. No matter how abstract he may seem.
