Upon arriving at the reception for a friend's wedding I couldn't find my name card anywhere. I asked around and one of the nice catering people put me at a table in the back, no problem. Must have been a seating flub. As my table filled up I noticed none of the people there had name cards. I began talking with them and we came the conclusion that none of us had recieved an actualy invitation in the mail to the wedding, we'd simply gotten a call from the bride or groom a few weeks before the wedding asking why we hadn't RSVP'ed. Each of us was told that the address that was put on the invitation was wrong. None of us thought anything of this. As I talked with a few of my friends who were bridesmaids they let it slip that our table was "The B List", people who were invited to the wedding only after others RSVPed that they would be able to make it! How embarassing for all of us and it was also hard to not get annoyed with the bride and groom after finding that out! No wonder we had no namecards, we were simply an afterthought!!!

Nothing truly horrifying, but this is what happened at my wedding. First, the ushers forgot to unroll the aisle runner until the bridesmaid began to walk down the aisle. So, all the maids had to stand to the side while they unrolled it, then continue their walks. Second, as the guests were entering the reception hall, the transformer right outside exploded. I hadn't arrived yet, but I'm told it made a quite frightening noise. So now the hall has no power, and there is a nice fire going on outside. It was a brunch reception and the place had plenty of windows, so lighting wasn't a problem. All the food had already been cooked and such, so that was ok too. However, all the drinks are of course inside a machine -- that requires power. Only water was available for the whole three hours. We also had no music, but luckily everyone was friendly and just chit chatted the whole time.

Went to a wedding where the groom was best friends with the minister (grew up together), In the beginning of the ceremony both the minister and the groom looked ill. The groom was bright red and the minister pale as a ghost. The minister had just begun when the groom passed out. The minister muttered thank God I won the bet and also passed out. Seems they had both gone drinking the night before and had placed a bet who would pass out first. The brides father made a decision to start the reception since the hall was at the church and that would allow the minister and groom time to sober up. They did everything but the cake cutting and about two hours in everyone filed back into the church for the wedding ceremony. The bride was pissed and spent her wedding night at her parents. They are still married 20 years later and laugh about it now, but it could have been disastrous

I wasn't part of it, but at my best friend's wedding I was talking to one of the firemen who was hanging around the hall. The reception took place in the firehall banquet room.
Anyway, he said they had a reception there once, that must have turned into a food fight, and when the firehall people came in the next day, there was food all over the floor, and in the stairwell. There were condiments smeared on the walls of the stairwell too. It had turned into rotted garbage. They weren't pleased.
Imagine the mentality of the guests who were responsible for doing that? What kind of wedding reception that was? The idea of someone's dream day? I'm just saying.

I broke a tooth on a Jordan Almond for a wedding favor.
A guest drank too much at another person's wedding and instead of taking the offered cab, decided to drive home. Spent the night in jail and got a DUIL.

The worst thing that happened to me was between the ceremony and the reception, our best man and his girlfriend had to stop to buy diapers for their baby. They drove seperate and when they weren't at the reception hall in a timely fashion (even with the detour they should have been there in like 10 minutes) and they are terrible with directions so my brother got the great idea to go look for him and my husband of literally 30 minutes went with him to point out the best man's car. The best man showed up right after they left (but they didn't see each other) and so my husband and my brother were driving around looking for them. It took them 20 minutes to come back and neither had a cell phone on them. That was the worst thing that happened and I am thankful that's all it was. It's still funny to say my husband ran off ten minutes after we married.

I went to a wedding where I suspected the groom was not going to show. I found out his "best man" was never invited to wedding and same with his family two weeks before the wedding. I went out with the best man and found out he didn't know his friend was getting married. His bride to be called me up the night before the wedding, and wanted to know if I knew anything about the best man not picking up his tux. I lied and said I knew nothing. She picked him up and brought him to the wedding. The groom told her the best man was driving him there. The grooms parents and friends were not invited to the wedding. I knew both the bride and the groom. Her best male friend became the best man.
They have been married for about 15 years with children. It was rocky for them at first but they are now happily married.

The bride was taking pictures outside before the reception with the children in the family.....neices, nephews....about 10 kids all together. She was holding her 18 month old nephew in one shot..it was so pretty...until the chuld projectile vomited all over the front of the bride's dress! I didn't know that much puke could come out of a kid that tiny! The photographer snapped the pic right when it happened. Then everyone started scrambling to get her cleaned up...she was crying...it was awful.

My actual ceremony was just a little mess...my flowergirl was only 2 and so had to be coaxed to walk down the aisle...part way down she threw her basket and ran. Then she tripped at the alter, fell, banged her chin on the stairs and screamed (meanwhile I'm outside with my father waiting for the music to change and I hear it, I freak out!). The pastor picked her up while her mom ran down to get her, handed off the baby sister to a friend...who promptly vomitted on the friend. The flowergirl was ok, but it took awhile to calm her down and get things going again. I waited about 8 minutes outside the doors while she was being tended to lol

A friend got married a while back and her husband ended up getting totally wasted at the reception. He ended up punching out the bride's dad and then left the reception! They couldn't find him until the next day. I don't speak to them anymore but I've heard they've recently divorced... no surprise there!
