I have no clue. Canned corned beef around here comes in round cans too.

Cos corned beef has those peelable tin lids that always cut your finger open and you can't get them round. I think...never seen a round one anyhoo

the rectangular cans allow you to slice pieces for frying or placing on the sandwich.??
