In your view, when do Christians become stupid? Are they brainwashed, or are they attracted to Christianity because they're stupid in the first place?

Are all Christians stupid? Why do you think this is?

I keep reading R&S answers telling me how stupid I am, I was hoping I might have some clarity on how and when this occurs.

Some people do not think. They think they think, but in reality they are only capable of parroting what others tell them. They need a religion like christianity that demands absolute conformity to feel comfortable. They are little more than human computers. Garbage in, garbage out. That I would consider stupid.

No matter how intelligent a person might be, if they are incapable of thinking things through on their own, of what use is their intelligence?

One of my teachers once said, " There are two kinds of thinkers, vertical and horizontal. If two people. one a vertical thinker and the other a horizontal thinker are each digging wells and both find they are digging in the wrong place. The vertical thinker will keep right on digging in the same spot on the theory that a deeper hole is a better hole. Thy Horizontal thinker will move someplace else and start again to dig a well. Christians are vertical thinkers. No matter how much proof is presented proving that their bible is flawed they still will insist it is the word of God, and that is as stupid as it can get. And in my book an insult to God!

You are not stupid, nor is anyone else that can type, read, write or think clearly.

If you choose a religion and the people within that family are not bringing you closer to peace and to God...then you are in the wrong family.

If the people you worship with are using terms like stupid, brainwashed, idiot or anything else that is negative...then you are also in the wrong family.

This room was created for intellectual exchange of ideas and information. Though many have abused the privilege to the point of being suspended or "thumbs down" rated. It is your right ot speak you opinion, but some don't really speak their opinion here. The room becomes a "venting chamber" for hot-headed extremists who wish to bash people that live differently than they do.

Does this seem like a positive way to live and interract? Don't listen to anyone that calls you stupid, they aren't the intellect judge.

Christianity is open to all, all those who search for peace and love within a kingdom of mutual respect. If you don't see that in their heart, they aren't a very good example of Christ.

Peace to you always.

I find it interesting how atheists / agnostics think Christians are stupid and cannot think on their own that is why they turn to Christianity. I, myself, have a 148 IQ that has been tested on 6 different occations since the age of 4. I have come up with better arguements about Christianity than any I have seen on Yahoo Answers. It has been through Christ revealing Himself in my life that I have recognized Him as my savior. I used to be an atheist because I got caught up on what I knew, but turned to Christ once I realized God, and life for that matter, was not about my own knowledge. After studying different theories on how things came to be, and the complexity of life itself, Creation is the only thing that makes since

Greetings Friend,

I don't think you have ever been stupid. I think you are getting closer to God. I think there are stages of understanding and the one you are on is higher than the one you were on. Before you did not want anything to do with God. Now you do. There will come a time when you will not look for God in a religion, that will be higher still, for you will try to find God for yourself and you will discover that there never was a time when you were with out God.

Most of us must go through these stages in order for it all to make sense, but it doesn't mean we are stupid. You will awaken (grow if you prefer) even more. I will meet you there.

sending love,

Hopefully you don't really consider that you ever were or have now become, stupid, on either end of your choice of religion. (Or in any area of your life for that matter)

Asking the general mob of religion bashers on R&S for a reasonable/ intelligent explanation for why they label anyone "stupid" or "brainwashed" is like asking for useful insight from someone who cannot actually see and is definitely not looking in the first place.

Basically it's already the best they can offer as their contribution to this forum. If you ask for more than they can give they just might suddenly introvert ......... we wouldn't want them to feel "stupid" now would we??

you weren't stupid for becoming a christian because the scripture according to: 1 Corinthians 1:27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

God has chosen the things that seem to be foolish to this world age, to confound those that think they are wise in the ways of the world. It is hard for those that are deep in the ways of the world to understand how a Christian can be so stable and self confident in what he does, when the world around him or her is falling apart. When God's Word changes the life a person, it changes their mind and character also.

I love the stereo types non-believers give us as Christians: evidently I missed the memo on these things... we all believe like the creationists, that the world is 6k years old, we all must be under educated and naive, we all admonish and act superior towards, anyone who doesn't believe. We all must be conservative and not deep thinkers. To me, it's seems naive to label a Christian and not stop to think, that Christians can come from differing backgrounds and cultures, and the ONLY thing that unifies us is the belief that we are saved by Christ through grace. Belittling Christians helps the non-believer validate something they know is flimsy at best.

No event in this Cosmos can happen without a cause and without the involvement of some amount of energy of some sort. If the cause and the nature of energy involved cannot be known, the event appears to be a miracle, which is not true. The episode of Hagin falls in this catagory...Not a miracle.

Based on what I've seen here, I happen to know you are not stupid. I think a persons stupid-level stays pretty constant. These people may be more prone to certain beliefs, I'm not sure.
