good Question It really ticks my husband off when we take you daughters and or their small children to Tesco's the amount of times a car with only one adult no children has been in the parent and child spaces. There again you get the grown up child taking their parent shopping using these spaces when challenged they say well we are parent and child or well the disabled spaces are full, that's the polite answers. These spaces are supposed to be for the safety of under 5s . We also have a 8 yr old gran son who has special needs and little concentration so using a parent and child space is essential when we have more than one child with us. If you park in a disabled space they soon kick off maybe we should apply for a blue badge for the grandson then nobody can say anything .We use general parking spaces when we do not have the children with us because we understand how difficult it is in these more dangerous spaces with a small child

Jumping in here - I use the Mommy and Me spots when available. No I do not have a child that I need to get into a stroller or anything like that. However I am now 34 weeks pregnant and have had issues with severe back pain throughout my pregnancy, plus the usual feet swelling and discomforts. I have been using those spots since around 20 weeks.
The only time someone said anything to me, was another family with a small child. Guess what, Daddy was with them and looked quite capable of carrying the babyseat (he wasn't a small guy).
All I ask is that when you see a single woman parking there, consider the fact that she may be with child. As for the morons who obviously have no respect for the Mommy and Me parking spots, lynch them all LOL.

circle_of_life & Hypocrite: we need child parking spaces so there is room to get prams, car seats etc out the car door without scratching other peoples cars! when you have a baby, and your baby is asleep in their car seat, you need extra space to open your door far enough to get the car seat out of the car!
also the spaces are usually on the edge by a pavement so you dont have to walk your kids in the road where car are racing around!
i don't know why people park there if they dont have small children, i would never park in a disabled space and there are usually about 200 normal parking spaces in a car park with about 10 parent and child spaces so why they need to park in a child space is beyond me!

What really gets me are the parents who park in them and their 15 year old son steps out. Does mean the next time I go to the shops as a forty year old with my 75 year old mother we have a right to park in the 'mother and child' spaces? I think not - though technically we wouldn't be doing anything wrong.
For such spaces to work it depends on people being publically spirited - most are - some are not - they are deprived people who cannot see beyond their own spirit.

People without kids that park in parent and child spaces don't think they have the right, they are just thoughtless and ignorant and don't bloody care!

regrettably because of the fact the supermarkets do no longer enforce their policies of parking in make certain and infant areas that's at times left to the customer to make the element. besides the indisputable fact that, this is tough in part because of the verbal abuse you're able to be able to get, or the could no longer supply a s**t recommendations-set of those you're confronting, because of the fact they know they do no longer look to be going to have any issues for parking in those areas, and a few by no potential sense shame, so your on a looser there additionally. The disabled areas get extra interest from the supermarkets because of the fact before everything you're able to bypass away a badge in and secondly disability parking areas are seen as extra of a call for than make certain and new child. I easily have even seen disabled parking in make certain and new child areas, yet those comparable human beings do their fruit if a make certain with little ones have been to park of their disabled areas. There are additionally many mothers and fathers with little ones that are completely waiting to stroll in the event that they parked further away taking the areas so mothers and fathers with infants or little ones could conflict, and those are people who have been as quickly as on your footwear! of direction make certain with little ones would not specify a protracted time of little ones, and that i think of whether it says little ones and that they are for sure older, supermarkets etc have concern taking any action. you're able to attempt and overlook approximately it ultimate you may, as you're basically stressing your self out, pumping your self crammed with adrenalin which leaves you feeling uptight for hours after and does you no good in any respect, and you will wager the guy you had a bypass at has forgotten it interior a jiffy. you're able to be able to desire to attempt sending an electronic mail to the customer amenities of the food market in question, which will help a splash.

I've never seen a parent and child spot (thank goodness) Only pregnant woman ones which I respect for those further along.
However I can't help but feel that parents and child spots should be at the back of the parking lot allowing the kids to get as much exercise as possible as they toddle up to the store. Let's not start them off lazy.
As for parents who are carrying car seats with babies perhaps they should try parking closer to the cart corral and going straight to a cart to get the seat in.

It's really irritating when they do that. Baby spaces are made with extra space to get kids out of the cars easier and to get them in their buggies without having to stand in oncoming traffic, which is dangerous. They should start issue baby permits to display in your car and if someone is parking in a baby or disabled space that shouldn't be they should have their cars towed away or fined!

Because it is not a legal thing anyone can park there. People also do that to disabled spaces some are legal to park in if you are not disabled and some are not. They are relying on people to do the right thing.

Because it's closer to the shops.
If there's no normal parking spaces, then by all means park in the parent parking.
If there was no parent parking, you would park in the other spaces wouldn't you?
I don't think it matters really.
