I have had pain in a tooth and was sent for a root canal. When the dentist drilled out the tooth, he found that it was cracked on both sides and unable to be fixed. He said the only thing that can be done is to have it pulled. I am going this week to my regular dentist to have it taken out. How do they pull it without it breaking in two since it is already cracked? It seems like any pressure to pull it will bust it apart. If it does break up, how is it removed? Also, will they just numb it with shots like they do for a filling?

The dentist will pull them out for you.

Depending on the dentist, they may not pull it. You want to try to save your teeth, as they are the only ones you will ever have. Most good dentists will probably try to root canal, post and core, then crown it. Yes, it will be expensive (around $1500 - $3000 for all of the work) depending if you have dental insurance.

As for extracting the tooth, you may need to be referred to a specialist for this since it is a cracked molar. A general dentist can do it, but if the tooth is impacted, a specialist (Oral surgeon) would be a better option.

Seek advice from a general practice dentist first, then see what route they advise you to follow. Good luck!

the mechanism for extracting a tooth includes wrapping the tooth about with a metal band, it holds the entirety together while it is lifed from the gum. If it is a simple extraction, the dentist will simply use the same numbing agent used during a filling. No big deal.

The doctor will numb you like any other time you have been numb for work being done. Then he/she will test the area to make sure you are numb. Then once you are numb the doctor will elevate the tooth so it is easier to grab a hold of with the forceps(pliers).. If the tooth doesn't come out in one piece it's not a big deal it will be fine it will all come out and ways. Wether in one or two or multiply pieces. IT's totally normal...Don't worry...Good Luck

Most likely they will just numb it with a shot like they do for a filling. It won't matter if it breaks when they pull it. They will just pull both pieces out. I had two teeth pulled recently and it really wasn't that big a deal. Try not to be anxious about it.

i does not recommend he pulls the molar on his very own. by utilizing doing so he can leave fragments of the the teeth nonetheless interior of his bone that would reason destiny issues. to not point out, if he has intense blood rigidity or is a diabetic it fairly is definately not a stable thought to accomplish that. maximum dentists won't can charge a lot to tug a molar out. the fee each so often excludes consultation and xray. examine with a dentist to get this taken care of. everyday fee for a consultation= $50, x-ray =$ 25, extraction =from $ninety-$a hundred ninety.....feeling stable returned=sensible. undergo in techniques various dentists do not can charge for the consultation and/or xray in case you come back to a decision to guard it. Your husband could be a stable candidate for a root canal. If he's, it can be a brilliant thought to do it bc as quickly as the molar is out, the different 2 molars will lean forward and the better molar will start to drop so as that the bite can regulate and which will reason crowding.

Its ok if whilst pulling the tooth off it breaks and the other part is left, your dentist should be able to get it off with no problem at all. (In my case, the dentist had to "crush it" and it didn't hurt because of anaesthesia) And secondly, yup, that area will have anaesthesia applied to it so don't worry abt the pain while it is being removed.

Hope this helps!
