My younger sister (4) came to me today to show me a rash on her chest. It's red, slightly raised, and bumpy. As soon as mom's home we're going to go to the doctor, but I wonder what it could be.

aAny ideas? We just got back from vacation at the beach, if it makes a difference.

Heat Rash/Prickly Heat. Chances are she was just sweaty or something, and the heat causes a rash with the sweat when it sits on skin like that. It'll go away, just have her stay cool for a couple days.

Could it be sand-flies bites? I had a friend who is allergic to sand-flies bites. She got bitten and a few days later there is a patch of rash instead of a normal red spot (for non-allergic ppl). I guess a visit to the doctor is the best solution. Sand-flies can be found in grassy areas or along the beach.

OR could it be fungi rash? I got this once myself. It looked like some kind of alien infestation. One patch of mini bumps each about 1mm in diameter. The whole patch is about 3 cm (is that 1 and a half inch?) in diameter. I dun know where this comes from, But a anti-fungal or anti-bacterial cream will settle this problem in about 2 weeks.

Hope this helps!

It is possible that it cold be a just a skin reaction, from something she either ate or touched while at the beach. Has thid type of thing ever happened to her before? You can never be to careful with things today.

It could be just as simple as a heat rash, I wouldn't worry unless she develops a fever.

It could be a number of things. Take her to doctor. That would be the smartest thing.

it could be tons of things: food, drinks w/coloring (like koolaid), soaps, laundry detergent, fabric softener.....anything with scents can trigger it. have to see what has recently changed......what she ate/drank. or the other stuff like soaps, detergents...

Without examining her there is no way to know what it could be.
