People stopped worrying about how other people are living their personal lives and started concentrating on how they conduct their own life? It seems to me that there are an awful lot of busybodies, particularly among the Christian fundamentalist sects.

As long as no one is being hurt or engaging in illegal activity, doesn't it make sense to just mind your own business?

Minding yur own business can add years to your life. Everytime you judge someone, i believe it takes 3 seconds off your life...

First of all I'm a fundamentalist Christian by the definitions that I believe in a literal Genesis and the Bible. I don't disregard science but also don't stop asking questions. I am on YA to answer questions and discover aspects about others and myself beliefs. I want questions and answer and that’s why I'm here. I try to spend my time concentrating on my life and what I'm doing with it but I'm also interested to see how other people view things and will happily give my opinion. I was under the impression that the purpose of YA was to fulfil this purpose. Am I a busy body for wanting to explore society? I don't hold judgements against anyone (at least intentionally) and try to respect the beliefs of others. I don't see how questioning someone else’s beliefs can be considered disrespectful as long as its genuine and I'm not sure why you consider your 'question' to be true (especially from a fundamentalist Christian perspective). I don't have to agree with you to be respectful. Could you give some examples of this occurring?

I am a christian and I do mind my own business. I know a few who don't and like to know ever personal thing and tell everone (they say it's for prayer purposes) But when it gets down to it they gossip like no other. Do they want to know what color my underwear are too? I really agree with you accepst for the fact that there are alot of people who are like this that aren't christian. Life does alot better without all the nosey people. On the other hand I have a few accountability friends that help me stay in line. But they are completely confidential. They are awesome. It is cool to pray for people...I am all for that but when you start asking 100 questions and making 1000 phone calls just to find dirt to pray about then that's when there is a problem. What ever happened to praying for everyone and their needs and problems in general. Why do people have to know the little details? I think people are like this because they have nothin gbetter to do and they are bored.

yes, it will help if people stop worrying or doing something about what others are doing

sometimes its just a waste of time doing so, there are better things that can be done instead of thinking about what others are doing

but there are cases wherein other's activities should be look into especially if there are potential dangers to other individuals, then these are the times that we should worry about what someone else is doing

I think Christians have some kind of commitment to convert people into their beliefs. I can understand the fact that we all talk about our beliefs in a convincing way, because we want people to see what we see, but we all should be aware of the limit, respect each other's opinion and just be tolerant with those that think differently.

As I always say, religion is related to WHO we are and not to WHAT PEOPLE WANTS US TO BE, that's why it is so personal when we come to talk about it. We get personally offended.

Tolerance is the key. Jesus himself never struggled to make His followers. He used to say "those who have ears..." He was respectful, but unfortunately not all of His own followers are.

Peace!

I am a Christian and I do not get into other people's business. Check out this verse:

Matthew 7:3
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

If you think Christian fundamentalists are busybodies... you haven't been exposed to many different religions yet.

busybodies you say? What about a sincere question to Christians only? All the athiests come out of the woodwork to answer with derogatory remarks about God.....

I can't speak for the world, but I think our Life in this world would be much better if we each gave more of our attention to our own Life experience, and less to how others choose to experience theirs.
