I perceive we are what we are because of our pure innate nature. Thus in many ways most are predictable in certain areas but no one is predictable all the time. Education, training, motives, thoughts, etc normally guide actions and a goal or focus is normally the main controlling feature.
They say every man has a price, but a man who has his sights set on something more important to him than life itself can not be bought.
A man who has closed his mind and is convinced that he has all the truth is very predictable while a man who is truly searching and is will to change if in fact he is convinced he has found a new truthful treasure can only be predicted if One know the man and the treasure in full.
Thus I do conclude that it is the driving force or Life itself that determines predictability. One who makes something a way of life is more predictable that one who makes something very dear as life itself. The latter can not fake his outlook, up look, and actions while the one who makes something a way of life is trying for some reason to hid his true innate nature.
Do have a good day and smile for you posted a nice deep thought to question.

Some of my actions I just leave alone - the predictability means very little energy output to have it happen.
But otherwise, my days are pretty free flowing. I'm very spontaneous. And aware that it keeps the brain fresh to tackle things from different avenues. So I'll consciously choose to take a different route, go to a different beach (not a slacker, thank you very much - it's part of my "work"), call someone out of the blue, try new things In fact, I'm such an anti pattern person, friends complain they never know where I am. (which is the idea).
It all started with a huge paper I did in university, on memory and aging. Even back then (ouch) there was so much scientific info. available on how being stodgy, couch potatoey, and predictable will bring on disease, weaken the immune system and impact the minds functions, I have never forgotten, and have taken appropriate action ever since.
Its all the little everyday things we do (or not) that make the difference - so I am just always winging around out there, mixing it up.

yes it is true because each person is so different and there are certain ways for a person to accomplish something in their own mind, hence a schedule of some sort, then the only way to break out of that habit is to start a new one and it takes about 3 weeks to start a new habit, whether that habit is something to be accomplished or to break out of a habit and therefor you become predictable again. It is a vicious cycle. I think everyone is predictable in some manner. Even if the predictable factor is unpredictability.
...did that make sense?

I don't plan well and I love not being predictable. I love creative spontaneity, levity, the thought of doing something off the wall and nutty to get a reaction out of people who know me. Laughter is grand! One thing I love to do is to put on a fake voice over the phone to friends or family, say... an annoying sales rep or an old grandma who is mean. Just letting go and being whacko is so much fun! My sisters are nuts and I love them for that, my daughter has picked up on the prankster games and she is a delight! My master unplanned plan was that she and her beau pull off the all time prank on my sisters and family in Boise, she dressed in a hideous Easter Bunny costume, (looked like a Chuckie Cheese reject outfit) and her beau in a Jesus outfit, (he actually looked like a not so bright Sheppard) and they crashed the party in Boise, as no one knew they were coming up. Bunny got very obnoxious to my sisters,(pinching their behind, poking them with balloons, a little leg hump) and, well..... everybody there laughed their tails off! I got it on video! So doing something unexpected is a hoot and can add so much flavor to peoples' day.
Love and levity,
Val

Maintain a 'direction', as opposed to a 'destination'.
That way things're always open & evolving.
If the direction is positive / wholesome, so too must the destination ultimately be.
A wise person may say 'dispense of the direction, too'.
I'm not quite there yet. :-)

"Some" say that we "are being lived"...divine puppets...
The only choice we have is to NOT follow thought into repeated patterns.
Life 'arises' and we watch the predictable, unpredictable, movement of it.
Right on, Thor! =)

I do not know.
All I know is that I am predictable - in an unpredictable way.
No one not even me knows on forehand what I am going to do next moment - that is decided when I do it.
I live in the 'NOW'
