i have 2 male cats, both roughly the same age. Nimbus is declawed, while Moe isn't. I raised Nimbus since he was only a few months old, I adopted Moe this year. Both cats are neutered.
One day Moe was sitting on the window sill and there was a cat outside that I presume was female. They started growling and yowling at each other. And then Moe tried to pounce on her, but he hit the window instead.
anyways after he hit the window. he started going crazy. he ran after Nimbus and attacked him. Moe was darting all across the room, chasing Nimbus trying to attack him, as if he was trying to kill him. When he stopped chasing Nimbus, he then attacked me scratching up my entire arm.
When he calmed down. i put him in his traveling cage as a 'time out' this has got me mad and upset, that my cat attacked me. i'm thinking about giving him away.
This is the second time this has happened. First time he injured Nimbus pretty badly. Why did Moe do all of this?

The reason why your cat tried to attack your other one is because the female is in heat and when a male knows there in heat they will fight with anything and go crazy i've seen it a hudred times your best bet is when a female cat is around put the cats in seperate rooms until moe calms down

Hi!
The first real thing I do think I'd have to ask is how long ago was Moe neutured.
I know someone that had their critter neutured and mind you before he was playful, onery, just a NORMAL cat. Afterwards, his eyes were bouncing back and forth like he just couldn't focus. It was told that the cat received too much anesthesia and it affected him very badly. As time went on, he'd attack things, windows, objects outside the windows, people, children. No one could hold him, pick him up, get close to him with out him tearing you up! No one was safe from him!
Not until a nice old lady came around that HE fell in love with!! SHE was the only one that HE would allow to hold him for some unknown reason. He felt safe with her. He was given to her and still lives with her to this day!! But to this day, NO ONE can get close to him other than the old lady!!
You should take Moe back to the Vet that performed the neutering and see if there may have been any type of complications, as with the anesthesia. See if they gave him too much knock out syrup! That could be the root of all your problems!
If you come up on a dead end, I'm thinking you won't though ( he sounds just like the other critter I know), but just in case. How did his life start, how was he treated in the beginning. Did he have to fight with other critters for his food, dominance?
Since Moe does still have his claws, make him a spot with plenty of food and water, or just water and feed him at a time when "YOU" know HE is the only one getting the food and not ALL the cats in the neighborhood. Let him stay outside. See if he changes his mood.
Those would to me, be about the only options you would have.
You can't give a critter away that you know attacks people and it's hard to have one put down until you have tried every solution before you come to that most drastic of last resolutions.

Even if cats are neutered, it doesn't necessarily mean that they'll lose their old habits. Especially if they're older (even a year or so) when they were neutered.
Furthermore, the female was probably in heat, and if Moe smelled that, it probably excited him a bit, and he wanted to go after her. When he couldn't, he might have become anxious and sometimes, if a cat is...er...well, for lack of a better word, horny, they'll go after anything, including another male.
Him scratching you up isn't irregular. Like I said, he's probably frustrated that the scent got him so riled up and he couldn't, for lack of a better phrase, relieve some tension. This should only happen while the female cat is around/in heat. It's nothing to give him away over.

Have you ever seen a bunch of men in a bar when a good looking females walks in? Your cats are acting like males. When Moe looks lik he is going acts like that spray him with water. See if that helps. Also make sure you keep his claws trimmed just to make sure he does not hurt Nimbus or you.

They fight over her. Isuppose your cats are not neutered, or if they are they have just retained the instinct of fighting over the lady!
