i just got back with another rescue! i don't think i will keep her but i'm already gettin attached 2 her, which is not hard as she is the sweetest thing! she is a 2 yrs old shih-tzu female who grew up in a pet shop in the back giving birth to puppy after puppy after puppy!! don't know exactly how many puppies but she looks like she has had 2-3 litters, has cattarax in 1eye, apparantly from a puppy scratching it, which i find hard to believe & now has started to develope a lump which feels like a hernia.
now i just took her as a foster child from the pet shop as they wanted LOADS of money 4her. 1/4 of what she would cost as a puppy. now i don't think it's rite. they want me to buy her but i mean i would have sooo many medical bills!!MUCH more than what i would pay 4 her. just don't know what 2 do? how do i get the shop 2give her 2me & pay 4 her bills. i would give her to some1 who really loves her but she is no beauty! :o) help!

Take her to the vet and get a treatment outline and estimate with all the costs listed. Go back to the pet store and explain how much it would cost them to get her healthy, and offer a price to buy her.

I'd go nice first, but if you think it may help, tell them that you have the treatment outlined and if they don't follow through, you'll report them to Animal Control and the government agency which regulates pet stores.

good luck.

You can't force the shop to give you anything and you can't force the shop to pay her bills. This is unfortunate, but even if you got legal help (which would cost you more than they want for the dog), he couldn't possibly win such a case. These puppy mills should be closed down, but since you contracted to foster and return her, I fear you have to do as you promised.

Call the humane society on that shop. In all pet shops they should not have hurt or ill animals. Exactly what I would do.

Call the SPCA and report the pet shop. They are not immuned to cruely to animals. Have them remove the dog from there care and adopt it from the SPCA.

you can't get the shop to give her to you and especially pay for her vet bills but you can report her to the local SPCA or to animal control and see if they will do something about it.. its animal cruelty
