My devout Christian husband wants me to dress very provocatively out in public?

Question

I love submitting to him him as God commands, but other Christian women condemn me when I do so. How do I resolve this conflict?

Who said I was uncomfortable dressing as he likes? I am far more uncomfortable with the condemntation from other women!

Why do you care what other Christian women think? Why do they get to judge you or your husband? These women have NO PLACE in your marriage. This should be between you and your husband. If you two are happy, then have fun with it.

Either your "devout Christian" husband is not a devout Christian, or he has some serious lack of understanding of the Bible. Isn't it obligatory for Christian women to place the commands of the Bible above the commands of their husband? Yes, please him, but don't violate God's law to do it. Just show your husband places in the Bible where women are commanded to dress modestly.



Edit: If you like to dress provocatively, do so. But don't expect applause from Christians. If you dress sleazy, you will be percieved as sleazy by those who do not know you well. Do what you think is right, and don't worry about what other people say.

Find some kind of compromise. It's your body, you're an adult, and you deserve to do with your body as you please, which includes deciding how to dress. What matters most is how you feel about yourself and the way you present yourself. There's nothing wrong with being submissive (I'm a sexual submissive), but don't do it because you have some inferiority complex that you learned from reading the Bible. You're not beneath your husband, you're his equal. And if he doesn't believe that, he's not being a very good Christian, is he. But to get back to my point on the clothes, there's nothing wrong with tastefully accentuating your body , but your husband shouldn't be asking you to do anything you aren't comfortable with, especially in public.

"Submit to your husband" is one part of scripture...but have you read the remainder of that passage? Paul then goes on to tell men to love their wives, as Christ loved the church.

Christ loved us sooo much, that He died for us. He hated sin and hating seeing what sin has done to us, so much that He gave His life as a ransom for many.

God asks that women submit to their husbands, but as with any authority, if your husband is being ungodly, then you must no follow Him. You must follow God first.

Dressing provocatively is ungodly, for it does not glorify God. Anything that doesn't glorify God is sin. Dressing that way is treating your body, the temple of God, in a sexual manner and will be a stumbling block to men, who are so easily tempted.

Obey God, not man.

The basic command for the saint is modesty especially for the female. If is goes against the Word of God then you can not obey the command given to you. We have to answer for our own selves. If your husband wants to act a fool when it comes to the things of God, then that is his problem. You can not obey an unrighteous command. It is better to obey God rather than man.

Well, he needs to love you as Christ loved the Church... I don't think he's doing that exactly if he's asking you to dress provactively and be submissive.. men always miss the second part to that chapter. Don't dress provactively because the Bible also states you don't want to make someone stumble in their walk and men might stumble if they see you dressed that way.

Ephesians 5

21 And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body.

31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” 32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Maybe you should sit him down and talk to him. Let him know this bothers you that you want to be only his.
Any man I know including myself would understand that.
Dress provocatively at home for him if that is his choice but tell him it reflects bad on your religion to dress that way in public and brings reproach on Christianity.
Somethimes women think that is what a man wants when maybe he is just trying to please you.
You guys need to talk to each other.
