The sartorius muscle is a long thin muscle that runs down the length of the thigh. It is the longest muscle in the human body. Its upper portion forms the lateral border of the femoral triangle.

The others are correct in that it is a long thin muscle of the thigh.

What's interesting is that its action is to cross the legs. No just while sitting of course. While walking It would allow you to swing your right leg across to turn left.

Sartorius is a muscle in front of your thigh that originates from your hip bone (anterior superior iliac spine or ASIS) to the inner and upper part of the tibia (medial tibial plateau). It's contraction causes external rotation of the femur, flexion of the knee and flexion of the hip. Those combined motions are the same motions when you cross your leg with your ankle on the opposite knee.
