I'm looking to sell my car shortly, however in the 4 years I've had it, I've become rather accustomed to having CD controls on my steering wheel! Is this something which has to be built in while the car is in production, or is it possible to pay to have it fitted in a car which doesn't have them?

Much as I'd love to buy a brand spanking new car and have it to my spec, I just can't afford to (it's about £4k beyond my budget!), so I have to buy used - but there don't seem to be many used Toyota Yaris' for sale with the CD controls on the steering wheel - probably because people like them so much and don't want to sell them! However there are a fair few for sale without the CD controls on the steering wheel, so I'm wondering if it's possible to buy one of them and have them fitted to the car.

If yes, any idea how much it would cost to do?

(I am selling a bright green new style Nissan Micra - I hate it's shape and the colour, so no suggestions of "just keep the car you have!")

I know that pioneer offers a steering wheel infrared remote that goes with some of their cd players. Crutchfield.com has it for $40. I looked up the 2007 Yaris & for all the cd receivers is says Modified Fit. Not being familiar with the Yaris, I'm not sure how a modified fit receiver will look in your car - or future car.

As far as putting on the factory controls after you buy the car, I'm sure at a minimum there would be a new wiring harness, steering wheel, steering wheel controls, etc. Is it possible, probably, but imo would cost more than it's worth & I'm sure the 4k includes more than just steering wheel vol controls.

You would have to change the cd unit for one from the upmarket model and buy and fit the control bits. Probably over £500
