For perfect hard boiled eggs, cover eggs with cold water, put the pan on and add 1/4 cup salt, not vinegar. Vinegar would be good to add to poached eggs, it helps to set the whites so you don't end up with the whites swirling on top of the water. Salt added in hard boiled eggs will help the shells peel right off, no difficulty. Bring the water to a rapid boil. As soon as it comes to the boil, remove the pan from the heat. Cover the pan and set your timer for 15 minutes. When the timer goes off, cover eggs in cold water. Peel. The yolks will be a perfect creamy yellow with no green ring.

Put the eggs into water add a little vinegar so if any eggs crack it wii harden the white of the egg verry fast so you dont loose any egg bring to the boil boil for 8 mins then put the pan into the sink and run cold water fast into the pan of eggs for about 5 mins this stops the egg yolk from getting the grey around it. if you just leave them in the hot water you will get grey egg yolks and your sandwiches will look like crap.

Put eggs into pan, and add enough COLD water to cover them completely.

Place pan on stove on high heat. As soon as it reaches a ROLLING BOIL, time it for 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, remove from heat, drain hot water, and cover with cold water again. Let sit for about 10 minutes and keep replacing with cold water.

Perfect hard-boiled eggs :)

what is perfect??? soft boiled (soft yolk solid white) or hard boiled (all solid) Any way I start with cold water Enough to cover the eggs and once the water starts boiling 3 1/3 min for soft, about 8 for solid ( JUmbo size eggs) And eggs do not get softer by cooking longer (LOL) then shock the eggs or you never get the shell off
(Rinse in cold water for about a min. ( not by looking in the pot, Sorry i could'nd resist this one ) ;-}}}

Get eggs out of fridge 30 minutes before you want to use them.

Boil a pan of water then using a spoon, create a whirlpool in it and gently slide the eggs down the spoon into it.

Cook for about two and a half minutes (soft boiled) to three minutes (harder boiled).

You will have to experiment with the cooking time - we all have different tastes!
