My husband has had this dream 3 times now;
It starts with meeting a couple and they befriend us. Then we are staying with them (were traveling or something). And they start to get weird...For example we set stuff down and they move it.
Then we are in their basement doing laundry and the guy comes down with a 2x4 and says that something of theirs is missing. (not sure what that object is) Whatever it is it seems important to them but insignificant to us. And he implies that we know where it is (but we don't). So my husband gets freaked out by this incident and convinces me to leave with him and leave all our stuff behind so we take off running to the main road and we get picked up by a light blue metalic 4 door pick-up truck with a cap onn the back, driven by a family of red necks or mexicans (not sure which, but they seemed friendly) my husband gets in the back of the pick-up and I get in the back seat. We take off down the road and my husband can see the guy ...

...on the hill we just ran up, with a big laser that looks like a rocket launcher on his shoulder. And then he shoots it at us and its a super bright light and it melts the plastic windows on the cap of the pick-up. (it doesn't hurt us but very scary) and then he wakes up with chills/goose bumps.

This morning when he woke up he felt like someone was in the room staring at him and he was scared to go back to sleep and it freaked him out so much he actually got up made sure there wasn't anyone i the house and all the windows were closed and doors were locked.

A couple details on my husband...
1. he doesnt watch any scary movies
2. he doesn't watch any sci-fi anything
3. he doesn't read any books (just the paper)
4. he's 52 years old
5. he is looking for a job right now
6. He is sweet and kind and outgoing
7. We have been together for 8 years
8. people generally drive him crazy and it bothers him when people are selfish or users of other people

Mostly your husband is letting his fears of the unknown "Get" to him, in the form of things or people he lets 'get' to him in real life. The very people who drive him crazy in real life are taking on the roles of representing his fears in his dream life.
The couple with the laser beam is his fear of little and big things coming to get him while he feels powerless, unable to take or be in control. Being jobless and and waiting for his boat license makes him feel powerless right now, and the things attacking him are his fears of the unknown, of what he is afraid will happen to both him and you while he is powerless without a job. (It's neat that he included you in his dream - he really does love you if he feels he needs to protect you even in his dreams!)
What he can do while he is waiting for the job offer and boat license is take control over other areas in his life. Make him clean the garage, do the yard work, and just plain keep him busy so he feels useful while he is waiting.
And good Luck with the boat license! How big is the boat that it needs approval from the coast guard! (How cool is that? I want a boat and a boat license from the coast guard!)
