The problem are the Big Forces, and of course the cosciusness of every human being, it he/she can be human with the behaviour adopted nowdays.
I ll explain you..There are countries who havent signed the convention against nuclears, i dont want to name...
But if it was just that..
When we burn(especially the new rich, because they want swimming pools as if the grew up with this). The result, they burnt the forsts, the ice meld, and the rivers are always less...
Is it important for them?No..From the security of their house everyone can say''I have my villa and my swimming pool'', without thinking how many animals have been burnt, how many trees and green have died...But this is the new class of people the new''bourgeoisie''...Wre burn, we bult, no matter the cost..
We make arms, no matter the nature and the human life...Everything for the material...
Till the day we ll not have breath...and this day will not be so far...be sure...

We've already seen the evidence that shows a significant increase in the number and intensity of adverse weather and all indications are that this will continue into the future.

The most recent detailed studies show that the world is currently warming by 0.0177°C (0.03186°F) per year and this is expected to rise with the passage of time. No-one can say for certain just how much warmer the world will be in the coming decades but the reliable reports point to a temperature rise of 1 to 1½°C within the next 50 years. This graph shows many projections overlayed on a single graph - http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Image:Global_Warming_Predictions_png

There will be more weather disasters in the years to come and we've already seen a significant increase in the number of droughts, floods, wildfires, storms etc. I did have a graph somewhere that showed how these have increased over the decades, it also showed, for comparison purposes, that instances of events such as volcanoes and earthquakes has remained steady. If you go back through my previous answers you'll probably find a link to the graph. Here's a report from the Assocaition of British Insurers that explains how more and more damage has been caused by adverse weather events - http://www.abi.org.uk/Display/File/364/SP_Climate_Change5.pdf

Here's another useful chart...

What's happening is that our greenhouse gases, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide as well as others, from car emissions and factories, are displacing the ozone in our atmosphere. The ozone, one molecule of which is composed of 3 oxygen atoms, helps to shield out the sun's higher-frequency light rays. So more heat goes in, and is absorbed by the Earth and the inner atmosphere, not to come out again. Global warming is a natural event that occurs without mankind, but the advent of human civilization, with the burning down of trees (a double whammy since this contributes CO2 to the atmosphere while destroying the trees that can convert CO2 back into oxygen) and burning of fossil fuels, has greatly sped up the process. The heat in our atmosphere has gone into a peak higher than any recorded previously, and has not come down. The warmth in the oceans has caused the ice caps to melt, raising the sea level and the warm water contributing to the surge of monster hurricanes last year, one of which, Katrina, devastated the city of New Orleans. Without a doubt global warming is real, and not a hoax. The oil companies, in an effort to save their business, have spread the lie that global warming is a hoax, despite the massive evidence contained in the movie, An Inconvenient Truth. You see and believe what you want to. We have always had weather extremes. Why is it that mostly young people are so terrified about the climate? Is it because they only know what they have been told? They've never actually experienced weather extremes? Who knows. I've personally been through hotter, colder, wetter, drier... If it weren't for computer modeling, this would just be considered normal weather.

And Christinaa, good luck with your meteorology studies. I'm sure one of the first things you'll learn is that tsunamis have nothing to do with climate - they are caused by undersea earthquakes, volcanic eruptions/explosions ,etc.

I think that while there is a serious issue at hand with global warming. I also am a firm believer in the cycle of life and if you look back through out time weather disasters have taken blame for whole civilizations being wiped out.

Check out jo-bob's link. Click on questions and answers and ask their expert a question about global warming - is it caused by us? He's a respected scientist and will tell you mostly yes.

But that's not what the movie says?

The movie is wrong.

"A Channel 4 documentary claimed that climate change was a conspiratorial lie. But an analysis of the evidence it used shows the film was riddled with distortions and errors."

http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/climate_change/article2355956.ece

Channel 4 knows that, which is why it sends your question to a guy who's right. So why did they broadcast it?

"The science might be bunkum, the research discredited. But all that counts for Channel 4 is generating controversy."

http://environment.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/story/0,,2032572,00.html

Global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.

Well, since I'm studying to be a meteorologist, things in the next few years dont look too dandy. With the way it's going, tsunamis are going to be normal, and droughts are just a thing of the past. This is going to be a rough few years. Enjoy this summer, it's cooler than expected. For some info, 2005 was THE hottest year on record on earth ever.

well we are responsible for global warming , and if we do not change the way we do thing, to make it better we will have a disaster we have warmer hot days, and not so cold winters, so yes it is us, and if we do not do anything we will all pay the price just me

Loads, and I don't think we'll ba able to fix it at this stage, but we sure should try.
Re-Atlantaboy's answer - conspiracy? Agains whom? Against peple trying to save rainforests and dying animals? Or agianst developing contries pollyting the air like hell? (granted they are trying to help their people to get out of extreme poverty - but if they think ahead- they will not have the need to rebuild all the plants in the future if they build them environmentaly frendly in the first place!) Conspiracy! stop watching too many movies, watch Panorama instead!

Please check out this link
http://www.channel4.com/science/microsites/G/great_global_warming_swindle/index.html

The temperature has been going up and down for 1000's of years. The middle ages used to be hotter than it is now, then the earth cooled again.
The link explains all so i dont think we have done any thing to harm the world - its just the world taking its natural course as it has been doing since the dinosaurs were roaming the earth.
