Here is a direct quote from someone on this very board;
"
Evolution is a tool used by the devil to fool some people into doubting the word of God.
It's not right. See through the mud
"

You read that right. This person, honestly believes, that the Science of Evolution (meaning Biology, Chemistry, Geology ect) are all "tools of the devil".
Now, when faced with that kind of ignorance, how does reality and Science stand a chance?
The education system really let these people down did'nt it?

It's certainly ironic to read people decrying science while typing on a machine that allows their ignorant answers to be flashed around the globe in a nanosecond.
Yes, the irony is thick.

Zuker,
Are you KIDDING me? No really? I mean to be either so terminally gullible or willfully ignorant not to know that evolution is the cornerstone of biology is so far beyond the pale that I wonder if the sky you see is pink with purple polka-dots.
Honestly dude, come live in the REAL world with the rest of us. You might like it.

Ignorance is without limit.

However, the creationists have completely blurred the lines between honest ignorance and deliberate motivated denial of reality.

If creationism continues, the inevitable result will be a culture that no longer bothers to distinguish between truth and falsehood.

Prof. Harry Frankfurt (seriously) wrote a very interesting book on the topic, titled "On Bullshit". Check it out.

Ur right. There R no end of fools out there. Evolution is only a theory. It hasn't been proved, & doesn't actually work, apart from within a species.Eg: if U are an animal that gets preyed on, and escapes by running away fast ,then the fastest will survive, so the animal will evolve into a faster creature.(survival of the fittest). How an amphibian evolves into a reptile, into a mammal, or how specialised life forms (eg a woodpecker) R supposed to have evolved is beyond me. I believe strongly in Creation - 7 days or 7 epochs doesn't matter. Hope this helps.

You can't fight that kind of skewed logic.

but you can make counter examples, which are equally unfightable.

Creationism is a tool used by the devil to make people think the word of God is laughable.
It's not right.
See through the mud.

People who believe these kinds of things aren't just being let down by their scholastic instructors, but also by their leaders in faith.

The Christian Church once also taught that the earth was flat and at the center of the universe. Did surrendering those teachings to the cosmology discovered by science lessen the truth of the Christian Bible or the faith of believers?
No.

Would giving up the belief in creationism lessen the truth of the Christian Bible or the faith of believers?
No.

Does the determination of a small minority of Christians to maintain their belief in Creationism despite large amounts of scientific evidence to the contrary make my religion as a whole look like superstitious and narrow minded individuals?
Yes.

Hehe, it is sad, funny and tragic that so many are still so stupid.

About one-third of the American adult population believes the Bible is the actual word of God and is to be taken literally word for word, a new Gallup poll reveals. This percentage is only slightly lower than several decades ago.

Gallup reports that the majority of those "who don't believe that the Bible is literally true believe that it is the inspired word of God but that not everything it in should be taken literally." Finally, about one in five Americans believe the Bible is merely an ancient book of "fables, legends, history, and moral precepts recorded by man."

There is also a strong relationship between education and belief in a literal Bible, Gallup explains, with such belief becoming much less prevalent as schooling continues.

Those who believe in the literal Bible amount to 31% of adult Americans. This is a decline of about 7% compared with Gallup polls taken in the 1970s and 1980s. It is strongest in the South.

Believe in the literal word of the Bible is strongest among those whose schooling stopped with high school and declines steadily with educational level, with only 20% of college graduates holding that view and 11% of those with an advanced degree.

When evolution was first introduced into schools it was taught beside creation. Both were learned better because people could question both and get answers for both. Evolution says this; creation says that and everyone learned the theories well. Today we learn 1. Evolution. We don't learn it well because we have no need to question it. It is taught to us as simple 'fact'. But 'fact' it is not, it is still a theory and needs to be viewed as such. Also considering both sides still confuse the 6 different definitions of evolution and get mixed up between evolution and natural selection I would say that most people are ignorant about evolution.

You give that quote quite a stretch.
First of all, biology, chemistry, and geology are not part of the "science of evolution." Furthermore there is no such thing as the "science of evolution." There is however, the theory of evolution and evolution is studied within those other disciplines.
Secondly, you equate your belief in science and evolution as reality. There is a reason it is still considered a theory. The proponents have failed to produce the "missing link." Furthermore, few ever state the difference in macro v. micro-evolution. They just put it all under the heading of "evolution." I personally cannot name one Christian or creationist that I know who will say that micro-evolution does not happen.
Thirdly, you fail to mention why someone that espouses science as your belief system would bother answering questions in the R&S category. If you think we are just ignorant people, why waste your time and vast intelligence on us. Are you there only to mock and demean? I am not meaning that personally, I am just stating that many non-believers seem to do nothing but insult those who believe. I just don't understand why you're in R&S.
Lastly, you mention how horribly the schools have failed. I agree with you. However, you can have an impact there. If you believe that the school system is failing us, quit voting in taxes to support them, and start voting for school vouchers. Quit voting in politicians that will not support parent vouchers, by the way, those are mostly Dems, and vote for politicians that will support vouchers.
Try to do something to change things, rather than just instigate insulting, demeaning, discussions.

Evolution is not proven, there are no scientific facts that evolution took place and therefore it is considered a belief.

Religion, christianity is a belief as well. Christian scientists argue that since the theory of evolution is a belief then why is it being taught in public schools.

Christian scientists also point out that the process of evolution is a "cruel" process that no God would permit. I mean you would think that God has control over how we look, right? Do you think he would have us randomly made through evoultion?

Evolution is a painful, random process that is never gauranteed.

In fact the odds are so high that complex life forms, us humans, could be created from this process the odds are like 1 in 10^20 - thats like 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000.

So yea I dont belief in evolution either. I belief in the Lord and anyone who believes in the Lord should know that our God would never allow such a process to form man and woman.

no they are not! i believe in evolution all the way. how can you not believe in it! i am a christian and i dont think that god wants to send me to hell just because i believe in science too. some people make the mistake that if u are a certain political party then u arent on gods side or if u dont believe that crap that opposes evolution. why can't people think of it like this : God did create earth, but he said the word, and evolution started, you know, over milllions of years one celled organizms became more than one celled, and different animals adapted to become what they are now!

In science you learn about animals adapting right? And that's some proof that evolution is real, and still happeneing.

Jmyooooh –

A Masters degree in what? Everyone I know has a Masters degree, and half of them are borderline retarded. I have two, Anthropology (Archaeology) and Systems Engineering, but that does not mean I know anything about Shakespeare or how to fix the brakes on my car.

As a Christian for over 37 yrs. I will say there is certain forms of evolution, But not the evolution way that you evolutionists try to bring. Science, & all Knowledge rather Biology, or whatever has it's place, Let's look at evolution first, Yes I agreed there is certain kinds of evolution, Like an egg will turn out to be a certain kind of bird, or even a reptile, & a larva will turn out to be a butterfly, or a tap-pole will turn out to be a frog, or Maggots will turn out to be flies, So far do you agreed, then lets go on, Human did not evolve from apes, Since you all think they did, then it is your job to tell every ape that they forgot to evolve. Now I am seeing Evolutionists on here trying to say that man is evolving from a human to a higher life form, Yes, This was said a few weeks ago, So if you think humans evolved from apes, then the next time you go to a zoo, change places with the ape & tell that ape, You forgot to evolve, so take your turn & I will stay here in this gage until you come back.

If you want to think your grand daddy is a monkey so be it.

I used to think Pluto was a planet.

It doesn't take a religious background for anyone to look at an Ape in a zoo and take offense to someone trying to tell them they were that once.

One would think evolutionists would have more humanity than to stick their former relatives into cages to perform tricks for the more evolved.
