Hi folks,
Do you guys recommend any places for getting invitations for a bridal shower that would look decent and not so overpricy?
I checked out Papyrus the other day and I picked up a couple of boxes of the imprintable pack. So basically its colored with a design but no printing on it. The cards I picked up cost $20 a box and Paprus charges $20 for as a print set up fee and then $1 an invite. Is that ok or expensive? Any other suggestions? Can I get them printed somewhere else or any other places where I can get invitations..I would rather get one with a background I like and then print our own custom words on it..

Hi..a majority of the folks are saying Staples and office depot :) So do they actually sell imprintable invitations there and I can get them to print it out too?..I would rather get the printing done profesionally.

do you have a card making program on your computer ? If so why not use that . it seems to me that would be cheapest. good luck and have fun at the shower.

Go to a Staples or Office Depot. They have invitation kits. Mostly for wedding invites but they work just as well for Bridal Showers or Baby Showers. I found a couple of those kits (50 invites w/ envelopes and response cards) on the clearance table for $10 per box. They are normally about $20 -$25 per box. This was for a baby shower but the invite was so basic you could do anything you wanted with it. It was plain white and had a small box where you were supposed to put a monogram. Instead i found a picture of a baby angel and put that in the box instead. The top of the invites had a white bow. This was for a girl baby shower so i printed the text in pink. You can do just about anything using your own computer and printer. Keep your eye out (especially on the clearance tables.) :) With a little creativity you and create a nice invite that's cost effective too.

If you are looking at preprinted invitations you can also try Vistaprint.com. You can create and invitation online, they print and mail to you. They can also be very afforable. I used the oversized postcard for another baby shower. They have plenty of templates to choose from.

This seems rather expensive for invitations to a bridal shower. A lot of craft stores or places like walmart, paper stores, etc. have kits where you pick the design and then you can use your own custom wording. It's very easy to do-I did this for my wedding invitations and they came out great! Also, you can go to a craft or paper store and find some really nice papers and then do custom wording on them. Some of the papers now are very nice looking! I prefer this idea to generic invitations. Good luck and have fun with it!!

Although I personally love papyrus.... they are the freaken Tiffany's of paper.... so over priced. I wanted butterflies to tie on my bridesmaids gifts but they were $25 a piece!!!!

Try Orientaltrading.com
I got my shower thank-you cards there.
Also ebay is good for that type of stuff.
Also staples and office max are now carrying that type of printable cards too!!!

Just a note from me - where I'm from, we just phone people invited to the bridal shower - to make it personal, I suppose, more than anything. Now I see it's also a money saver, though I never thought of it in those terms.
People just do the big fancy invitation for the wedding itself...

I agree with the other posters about OfficeMax. You can either buy invites to print on yourself, or you can make an electronic file (Word, Adobe, etc.) of what you want them to look like and bring/send it to the printing center and they can hand make them for you.

Make sure you have specific ideas of what you want if you have OfficeMax make them: kind of paper, color/black & white, size of invites (have envelopes in mind).

thats damn expensive for shower invites...why didnt you just but ones that you write out yourself? Since you already spend the money try www.wiltonprint.com and see if you can find a card on there that looks like your invites and use their templates?
