I'm an atheist but I have to say that the question is funny. Give us more of that.

(Don't care about logic, though ...)

Well that question was a bit nasty, maybe that's why they called you a hater. And it's not necessarily logical either.

I'm a Christian, and I love doing logic problems. I can have a rational argument. I don't, however, try to use logic and rationality to prove my religion, because that simply doesn't fit. I don't think I should have to use logic to justify why I believe in God, so I don't waste the breath.

Well you could have phrased it a little bit better - as it was it was a bit cutting.
If you genuinely want an answer to what they say, rather than to provoke an angry response, maybe try asking by saying...

If my friend were dying we would talk about eternal life and faith and [insert whatever else is appropriate]. I have been wondering what athiests use as comfort at such a time and I wonder if anyone could tell me please?

because the question is not logical, you know that it is going to come across as being cold and cruel, and actaully there are theists, of the same religion of yourself saying that you are being unfair, and cruel, everybody greives when they lose someone no exeption there, its seems to try and be an emotionally provocitive question, to try and annoy atheists, yes we miss people but we know what happens and for the most part, i for one am not afraid of it, i just want a good and happy life in the mean time

lol I had to chuckle and I was stopping myself but you have to understand that there is a certain manner in which you must present what you say. The way a person talks tells a lot about them. I'm sure you're not a bad person, but this might be a touchy topic for someone who had someone pass away.

As for your question, I'm sure they don't say anything besides "rest in peace"... but who are we to judge them.

Hope you Understand.

I worked with an atheist for many years, & I never try to harrass him with my beliefs, . He knew what kind of life I lived & he was greatful that I did not try to throw anything down his throat, How do I know, Because he told me personally, Then he came down with cancer, & just before he died, guess who he called for prayer, Yes, he called me. So that shows me that when Most of them knows their time is up, then they get to thinking about God. Not all but some.

If you are oblivious to your own need to express hate you are a troubled person indeed. By claiming it is logical and straightforward you are being disingenuous or stupid at best. But perhaps you are a Christian for whom it is logical and straightforward to say to someone who doesn't agree with you, "You will burn in agony forever".

Christ would have despised you.

Good fertilizer is appropriate. It's what happens, we're cosmic mulch. Sorry to hear about your ego and sense of self.

Religion is irrational, and therefore is not logical. Is it difficult to understand such a simple concept?
