I do not think that muslims conflict over this, as all prophets have been recorded in the Qur'an. That is to say, Muhammed was the last of them. Jesus (Isa), Moses (musa) are important prophets to muslims, and we respect them as we would have respect for Muhammed. The only thing is that we do not believe that Jesus is the son of god. If we think about it, god is one, he cannot have associates, that would violate the oneness of him. He created Jesus just like he created everything else. Muslims believe that one day, Jesus will return.

Now is the premise a genuine mistake, or is it propaganda? The question ought to be, "Did all the prophets come with the same mission?" That's because many people think that people who are called prophets had very different ideas, and contradicted each other greatly.
Christians agree with that. They say that all the sixteen genuine prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, Micah, etc., agreed 100% with Jesus. They say that people like Muhammad were not prophets, neither was the Mormon Joseph Smith, nor was Krishna, nor was anyone who disagreed or disagrees with the Bible. Jesus warned against people like them, because they disagreed with all the sixteen prophets and with Jesus himself.

The prophets are now gone and it is upto written text, its interpretation, legends, customs and practice to maintain religion. Our differences make the human society a 'society' and the same is true for religions. Not everyone would have taken the message by each prophet in the same light and hence today we have a number of religions, each claiming to be the right in an exhaustive manner.

All prophets did not come with the same mission. There have been false prophets who lie about God, and there still are; and there are true prophets, of the Father in Heaven, the only father of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, the Christ of God.

Prophets who started a new religion were false and were proved to be false.
Some of the people were conned into believing, ended up selling their home. When a so called prophet told them the date the world would end, they sold everything.
Then sued the new religion and the false prophet.

Which prophets are you talking about? if they are the bible prophets then the answer is because some people just do not take the warning and seek excuses to carry on sinning.

PST: prophets = servants(slaves) = "know not"s.
Children and Prophets notably differ NOTHING.
Both such have to be told what to do and not do.
Man kind, of child/man, KNOWs what to do & say.
God said: let us make MAN(not child, nor servant).
It's all about grow the f up: "grow in grace"(not law).
Law puffeth up, to on high = highmindead = unholy.
Grace edifieth and exhorteth up unto comfort(only).
The grace(only) of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
